NWR: Easy/Fun Appetizers for Get together

Hi ladies we're having some friends over on Friday & I'm so tired of making my 'standards' of frito pie and sausage bread & english muffin pizzas. Does anyone have any easy/fun recipes to share?

Thx.

Do you want to make that chili dip that I had at Janna's place that time? It's really easy, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do it!!

First spread a layer of cream cheese along the bottom, use the whole thing so you have a nice thick layer. Then spread a can or 2 of chili, the amount should depend on the # of people you're having. Lastly, sprinkle on shredded cheddar cheese to cover the top. Then heat it just long enough to melt the cheese. Serve with nachos and enjoy!!

I always make a taco dip

1 block on cream cheese
1 can of chili (with or with beans-your preference)
as much shredded taco cheese as you want

put in a round pyrex and toss in the micro for about 5 min or the oven for 20 at 350. i always put in the micro.

the cream cheese goes on the bottom, chili in the middle, cheese on top.

the dip disappears in like 10 minutes.

good luck

I always put out a little antipasto plate (a few cheeses--like brie, manchego, and parmesan reggiano) some meats (mortadella, soppressata, pepperoni, hard salami, etc), assorted olives and some bread. Really easy finger food! I also like prosciutto/ricotta wrapped breadsticks. I always like a shrimp plate too--buy some already cooked jumbo shrimp out with some cocktail sauce & lemon. I like those no-cook appetizers! Chicken skewers with dipping sauce are good too. :)

OMG... I INSIST on having this at every party! It's friggin' AMAZING! You need to get pumpernickel or sour dough bread for dipping. Sooo yummy! It will be a hit! and SO easy!

Hot artichoke and spinach dip:

1 can of unmarinated artichoke hearts chopped
1 cup of mayo
1 cup of shredded romano cheese
1/2 of onion chopped
salt and pepper to taste
1 box frozen spinach thawed and 'squeezed' of excess water

Mix all ingredients in small casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes until top is lightly golden. Serve with veggies or tortilla chips!!

this is my fav version of spinach dip - the grated cheese really makes a difference (IMO)

1 package (9 ounces) STOUFFER'S frozen Spinach Soufflé, prepared according to package directions
1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon (about 2 1/2 ounces) grated Parmesan cheese, divided
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
Tortilla chips
TOPPINGS: diced tomatoes, chopped green onions and shredded Monterey Jack cheese

PREHEAT oven to 350° F.

COMBINE spinach soufflé, cream cheese, ½ cup Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise and 2 tablespoons green onion in a medium bowl. Transfer to a small baking dish; sprinkle with 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese. Place baking dish in center of baking sheet or ovenproof platter.

ARRANGE tortilla chips around dip. Sprinkle chips with tomatoes, chopped green onions and Monterey Jack cheese.

BAKE for 20 to 25 minutes or until dip is hot and Monterey Jack cheese is melted.

Serving Size: 6

What about pigs in the blanket?

Another great, but strange recipe.. if you have a slow cooker.. buy frozen mini meatballs, toss them in with 1 jar tomato sauce and 1 jar of grape jelly and let it cook all day. These 'Sweet and sour' meatballs are amazing and couldnt be easier!

I just had these at a party the other day and they were amazing!!!!!! I couldn't believe the recipe had grape jelly in it!!!

my mom does that...she makes her own meatbals, but rolls them smaller, cooks them on the stove, then adds equal parts of ketchup and grape jelly. sounds gross, but they are such a hit everytime and super yummy! esp if you make good meat balls

Re: NWR: Easy/Fun Appetizers for Get together

oh and i have an easy recipe for crab dip too..

get 2 packages of cream cheese, i always do a reduced fat and fat free if im watching then get a large can of crab meat and one onion.
dice up about a 1/2 cup of onion, add crab meat and mix with cream cheese (best if you leave it out while chopping to soften up) then mix well and put in a corning dish, sprinkle bread crumbs on top and bake uncovered at 375 for about 20 minutes or until hot. serve with crackers! it's super yummy if you like crabmeat!
