Last year my little guy and yes he is very little for his age....had an out of control bully issue and unfortuately the bullys mom was president of the pta.....it took me going to the board of ed and threatening this women on my front lawn...and my older one defending his brother to make the situation better....well now my son is having nightmares and dosent want to go to school...I know the bully isnt in his class and we have a new principal but Im not sure what else to do to make it better

do you know any kids that ARE in his class? i would set up a meeting with the principal or AP and explain the situation without naming names and just tell her that you hope he has a successful year

aww I'm not a teacher but I sympathize with your son. Kids can be so nasty and the whole twisted politics of the PTA is crap. The first day will be scary but he'll get into his new groove and be just fine. Good luck to him.

talk it out with him. Let him tell you what he is afraid of. Reassure him that everything will be okay. When school starts talk to the teacher, but on the same note let your son know that you're talking to her to help him feel comfortable. So that his fear doesn't get heightened you know what I mean.
I hope that helps

maybe now that he has a badass mohawk no one will mess with him. Or is that the older one?

once he gets into his new class, new teacher and the other kid not there, im sure he will be fine
the best thing to do is for you not to bring it up at home or in front of him

Yea I agree with snowflake. Not that you should downplay it, cause his feelings are real, but you don't want to heighten the anxiety

Re: NWR __ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS PLEASE HELP
make an appointment with the new principal. introduce yourself and explain the situation from last year. i disagree with not using names.. use names.. its' important for the new principal to know who the problems are, and since they will know u'r childs name by way of u coming there, they need to know the other chldsname so that he/she can monitor and observe that childs behavior as well.. that child isnt just a bully to your child im sure.. the principal can monitor him and it will give credance to your childs' statement
additionally.. if this child is bothering your child in school, u DO have the right to file police charges for harassment against him. Just because it occurs within school walls does NOT make it okay.. if the school is not tking action let them know that u wll tak the issue out of their hands and place it in the hands of the nassau county police department.. elementary students CAN have restraining orders.. and if one is issued then it forces the school to make sure that your son is safe and secure..
as for your son's feelings of concern bout going back to school, let him know u understand his concern and give him an outlet to reach you.. he needs to feel secureagain andthe situations last year took away his secuirity.. try to give him someting that will restore his faith in believing that he's going to be safe.. i'm not sure how old but if he's 3rd grade or over i'd give him a cell phone with ur number programed in it. let him know that you are his lifeline and he can call you in case of emergency..

well, that was a good decision on his part, but he shouldnt be a victim either as an assistant principal i see this all too often but as i said, dont bring it up in front of him what grade is he going into?

Re: NWR __ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS PLEASE HELP
the reason i said not to use names is because as long as you make yourself clear that you will not allow your child to become a victim in any way, that should be sufficient
since the other mother is on the PTA or whatever, im not saying that it matters, but with the principal being new, you dont want to make waves ; but you do want to protect your son ETA if the new principal asks for the names, then tell him/ her

Re: NWR __ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS PLEASE HELP
Kelly I really dont have any advice cause I am not a teacher yet. But to me it sounds like this kid not only has a bullying problem but possibly a behavior disorder and I am suprised he has not received harsher punishments. I dont give a f u c k if his mom is PTA He should have been punished for doing that to your son!!!!!!
but i would like to say I am soo sorry this has happened to your son. i dont get children these days they can be soooooo mean and soooo cruel and where do they get it from. Oh and if that mother allowed her son to get away with it at home and didnt punish him she is just condoning it and that is awful and ridiculous and parents these days need to grow the F up and control their children
I read a book recently about bullying in elementary and high school it was such a great true story book. ill get the name of it maybe you could read it i dont know if it would help you and your feelings.
