NWR - elementary TEACHERS!

i need your help! my supervisor is a stickler for goals and objectives...

i have my objectives, i need a goal, which is like a broad objective.. something that encompasses the objectives...

for PLACE VALUE to the hundreds! i'm playing a game with them called race for the flat, using base 10 blocks...

i cant think of a GOAL other than having them realize that the same number or digit in a different place will have a different value.

HELP!

Maybe you can include in your goal state exams where they would have to know place value...hmmm...I teach reading so math is kind of foreign to me... or take a look at the math book and see what other concept comes up next...they will need to know this before they can tackle the next skill.

so far i have

: (a) Students will recognize that the same digit or number in a different place holds a different value.
(b) Students will recognize the importance of number fact memorization for speed purposes.

as the goals... whatever. my head is splitting... why was fourth grade so much easier to teach than third grade?
