I was diagnosed with it 2001. Since then I have 3 surgeries for it. I still ocassionally have pain, sometimes worse than others. Being on the pill has pretty much been a lifesaver though it seems to help control the pain believe it or not. If you have any ?'s dont hesitate to ask

Don't they usually put you on BC pills to regulate it. My sis has it and was just prescribed progestren and estrogen to help it, but is getting a DNC in a few weeks for it. Not fun.

WOW... they say the only thing that really removes it is pregnancy..... 3 surgeries... thats no fun Im sorry :(

I cant be on the pill my family is HIGHLY allergic to it.. :(

And I appreciate the offer. I know for sure when I am going to cycle monthly because the pain effects my back and the pain is bad news.....

is there anything that will soothe the pain?

The only thing I know of to ease the pain is advil and a heating pad. Did you try searching web md?

Re: NWR: Endometriosis.....

Hi inkedup...

I was diagnosed in 1992 after a laparoscopy. During surgery, they did not remove any of the endometriosis because it was directly attached to major organs in my pelvic region. Thankfully and oddly, all of my endo was outside of my uterus and none was found inside my uterus or tubes.

I was given six months of Lupron injections after surgery to halt estrogen production and initiates menopause. By not getting a period, the endometriosis would not spread and only stay the way it was. After the injection course, I went on continuous birth control and have been onthem ever since. So that's 15 years of no period. No cramps. No constipation or diarrhea (sorry...but those of you who have endo know what I'm talking about) and no mood swings ever.

But, in this past year, I have begun to think that my body is no longer recognizing the pill I'm on (which btw, is Orthocyclen NOT Orthotricyclen...the tricyclics actually make endometriosis worse...the whole point of being on continuous BC is to keep your hormone levels continuous and stable.). Despite being on the pill all the time, I get breakthrough bleeding, cramps and occasionally a full period. So something is amiss...given that my wedding is in Nov., I plan to address this with my OB/GYN in one more month. Have to track the bleeding for one more month before it shows a pattern.

I hope that helps. Rest assured, you are not alone and there are many of us who commisserate and share your pain. Hang in there and ask a ton of questions. Unfortunately, we have to advocate for ourselves because most OB/GYNs still don't completely understand how much farggin pain we are in!

There was just an article in the last Women's Health about a vitamin you can take that lessens the cramps. I forget what its called but if you want to know FM me and I will look it up. I am a firm believer in natural medicine!

Did you ask about the Progesterone only bc pill? I cant be on even the lowest dose estrogen pill or it feels like I am going to have an aneurysm. It works for me . I still get headaches occasionally but nothing like before. Maybe try Motrin or midol? is it like a crampy feeling>>

Re: NWR: Endometriosis.....

I was diagnosed w/ endo. in April and had the lap. surgery and a DNC in May. My doctor said my case was pretty severe. It was all over most of my organs and choking my colon. That was the most uncomfortable part.
I began seeing a nutritionist b/c I gained a lot of weight out of no where in odd spots and my bowel movements changed drastically. After changing my eating and working out the weight still was not coming off. I was having severe pains in my stomach once a month and I noticed it was during ovulation. That's when my nutr. told me to go see my ob/gyn. After my surgery my doctor recommended that I begin having children ASAP. He said since I am 33 and he cleaned most of it out I have a good chance of getting preg, right away. He thinks it is going to grow back quick. I was rather upset b/c I wasn't getting married until 3/08. He told me he would rather me not wait until March to try to get preg. I was so overwhelmed!! I didn't want to be preg. for my wedding. I ended up moving my wedding and so far everything is falling into place. It has been 2 months since my surg. and so far everything seems to be going well. My doctor is glad we moved the wedding and he wishes I would start trying but I want to drink at my wedding and don't want to have morning sickness. Question. . .did anybody else gain weight? and lose it aftr the surgery?

Oh no I am so sorry :(

Well the first thing that suffered was my sex drive, I do not know why but prior to the surgery my sex drive was worse then a 13 yr old boy... lol.. then it came to a stand still. It seemed as if I couldnt lose weight in my lower stomach while my upper stomach remained flat.. odd I suppose. I have always battled a weight issue my whole life either being 113 lbs or being 240lb it was always a drastic difference. I am now down to where i some what want to be even though I have a few more left to lose. BUT i did notice a difference in my self perception since the surgery. I dont know as much as I know I needed it I still feel I guess you can say 'tampered with' thats a strange way to explain it but I even started the progesterone cream but that didnt seem to be working. My doctor checked my panel and found that the only thing that is wrong is the fact that I have CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) which effects many things mentally that could trigger the mental perception of the physical...
I do find it harder to lose weight and had to adjust the way i ate and how much I ate. After doing that the weight seemed to come off and I started feeling a bit better.

So when does he want you to start trying? I hope you can enjoy your wedding. Maybe you can start trying the night of your wedding day? :)

HUGS TO YOU!!!!

Re: NWR: Endometriosis.....

Wow I am glad you said your lower abs. were not going down. I feel like I already have the 3mon. preg. pouch. Weight has always been an issue for me but, for the last ten years I was somewhat ok with where I was. Now it is uncomfortable and I can't stand that none of my clothes fit. I am also always tired. I have to check into that. My nutr. thinks my thyroid is sluggish as well due to this but my tests all keep coming back fine. HMMMM. I will def. be trying on my wedding night

Re: NWR: Endometriosis.....

Awww.. yeah i can some what deal with the pain but i cant deal with the fact that my lower stomach is NOT getting flat no matter HOW many friggin crunches (even in the roman chair ugh) Its annoying....

You should maybe have your PCP do a panel test and see if you could possibly have CFS. I have NEVER had that until surgery so my doctor ran my panel and found out that I had CFS.

I now take:

Echinacea,
Colostrum.
B12 (dissolvable),
B12 stress,
more omega 3's,
DHEA,
viramax,
a different daily vitamin that does not have iron in it, cranberry,
melting point,
basic cuts (for when I train)
and redline in the am for energy...

Great huh lol

Re: NWR: Endometriosis.....

I know your pain! I was diagnosed a few years ago and have had 6 surgeries since... I have major adhesions from all the surgeries and my c-section in 98 that they cannot remove all the endo so no matter what I am in pain...

I could not do the Lupron treatment because I am highly sensitive to things like this and was petrified of what it was going to do to me. The shortest shot is 1 month and since I am always a little crazy due to hormones, I couldn't risk becoming completely insane on top of it.

I was recently diagnosed with poly-cystic ovaries and type 2 diabetes on top of it all...my biggest fear is not being able to get preggo. My FH and I did 6 months of clomid last year to no avail and hopefully invetro will be able to help me.

I hope you feel better soon. I can't give you much advice on how to alliviate the pain...I live on tylenol 800 and thats all that seems to work for me.

Re: NWR: Endometriosis.....

Ladies...I hear a lot of you talking about the lower pouch thing...it may not be endometriousis related! I thought for sure mine was, but I wound up having H-pylori bacterial infection/ulcer. They put me on treatment for 3 weeks and I lost nearly 20 lbs!

I would def. have it checked especially if you are having symptoms such as decreased tolerance to alcohol, random vomitting, nausea, pain, ect... If things you used to be able to handle now make you sick...check it out! Good Luck!

Re: NWR: Endometriosis.....

I don't have endometriosis, but I do have a serious chronic pain condition, and I totally understand how you women feel about being in pain and not getting relief or understanding from your doctors. If you're in that much pain, ask to be referred to a chronic pain service. Your average gyn is not trained to deal with chronic pain. They don't understand it, and don't know how to treat it properly. A pain service might be able to help. Talk to your doctor.
