Xmas eve dinner is the one meal I LIVE FOR through the year
My family is 100% off the boat guineas and they do up the fish dinner HARDCORE!!! We have stuffed lobster as the main course OMG LUNCH TIME THANK GOD youre killing me with the foods and desserts

We do an all pesce (fish) Christmas Eve. I think my FAVORITE dish of the night is my Uncle Sal's shrimp scampi. The man is 75 and still refuses to share his recipe!! Soooo good!!!

Its like a Puerto rican tamale basically, ground banana, stuffed with pork, raisins..wrapped in a banana leaf...Ahh....goodness!!

We have a very ethnic family, Puerto Rican, German, and Italian. All traditions are very similar!!!
No meat before midnight, then midnight mass. then the good food comes.
My favorite pre midnight is the Zuppe Di Mussels, Stuffed Clams, and Calamari
Then after...veal or chickenFrancese..yumm Scarole and beans..num num
AND EVERY SELF RESPECTING PUERTO RICAN MUST HAVE PIG!! OINK OINK BABY....PERNIL AND PASTELES...TO DIE FOR!!!

Those are pasteles, not sure what is in them, but they are very good. The pernil is fantastic. I'm doing the old fashioned Italian Christmas Eve with all the fishes, but I have to have 1 meat for those who are not fish eaters. I will be cooking the entire day of the 23rd then make my clam sauce on the 24th. It's a lot of work, but soo much fun too. :toast
my family if off the boat also.. so we have the 7 fishes dishes.. my persoanl favorites are.. lobster fra diavlo(my grandpas secret ingredient is brandy OMG TO DIE FOR) fried calamari and shrimp baked clams Zuppa di muscles
to top it off the fresh italian bread for dunking

ahhhhh... Nina.. you must know what we eat at my house on Christmas Eve.. Love the fact that we are all Italian and have all the fish and my sister's inlaws are Puerto Rican and we have all the foods from their culture.. yummy in my tummy!!!!!

That is a good guess Nina but don't forget his shoe polish jet black hair and prego tummy!!!
When I was with Lucas' father, we made Pasteles every Sunday. We made a line, and each of us will do something. I've NEVER mastered them, but they are soooooooooooo yummy. We never added raisins though.So now....me....I buy the frozen ones from Goya . And Nina, Lucas is just like you! Puerto Rican, German & Italian. Definately a good seed
