We have a very ethnic family, Puerto Rican, German, and Italian. All traditions are very similar!!!
No meat before midnight, then midnight mass. then the good food comes.
My favorite pre midnight is the Zuppe Di Mussels, Stuffed Clams, and Calamari
Then after...veal or chickenFrancese..yumm Scarole and beans..num num
AND EVERY SELF RESPECTING PUERTO RICAN MUST HAVE PIG!! OINK OINK BABY....PERNIL AND PASTELES...TO DIE FOR!!!

we do the fish on Christmas eve and back when my grandparents were alive we would go to midnight mass as one big family and then come back ( after midnight mass) and stuff ourselves with the roasted pig. so delicious!! i miss those days!
and then on Christmas we have manicotti and then Veal Roast as the main entree...

Maybe one year you guys will be with us for Christmas, then the 2 of us can cook together. It will be a lot of fun and maybe we can even get Rosanna to cook with us too. Ha...I bet nothing would get done and we'll eat what we cook before anyone else

We used to have the 7 fish but it became too much for my grandmother. Now my favorite is her baked macaroni. It has everything in it such as eggplant, chopped meat, mushrooms, etc. I want to continue the fish tradition after we are married and have our new house

My fav dishes:
Baked clams Fried Calamari Manicotti (my mom's homemade specialty!) Eggplant Rollatini (w/ ricotta and sauce) Stuffed Mushrooms Filet Mignone (with peas and mushrooms) Carduna (they are a stalklike vegetable with the texture of celery and the flavor of artichoke) soo yummy!!!!
