My co -workers daughter is a nurse, and recently, traveled to Africa as part of her internship. (She is 23). She has been home for a month, and has been not able to go to the bathroom, and has had abdominal cramping. So, after going to various Doctors and being told that everything is normal, she gives herself an enema. Guess what comes out? (again sorry for the grossness factor). WORMS!! As in live large worms!!! I think I would have passed out and died if I saw that come out of my body!!! My poor friend is soooo upset. She must have picked up a parasite of some sort.

And i'm usually not grossed out by anything but that was a bit much.

I saw something on Discovery Health (love that channel) about someone who had a worm somehow right under her skull. They pulled it out and it was freaking LONG!
THEN another women (homeless mentall ill woman) had pet worms. Guess where she kept them? Yup.. in her. She cut her skin open and placed them in there (lots of them). she had to go to the ER for something else and the docs took all the worms out but she asked for them to be kept cuz they were her pets. The doctors put them in sand and gave them back to the women after she was released. (they couldn't keep her cuz she was an adult and really wasn't Hurting (italics if i could) herself.

ugh.. i hope your friend is doing well.

(Apparently that wasn't all i could say) lol

I would be so sick to my stomach if that was me!!! I hope everything is okay and that no other damage was caused by the worms to her body.

Don't laugh, you can actually buy them. Some girls are actually doing this. They give you 'medicine' to take to kill it after a month, but by that time the worm has already layed eggs.

The eggs can travel to other organs and feed off of your liver, esophagus, and even make their way to your brain.

I have no idea why people would put themselves in this much danger to lose a few pounds.

I hope your coworker's daughter gets the proper medical attention. There is the possibility they have already spread.

It is really sad that people would do that to themselves to lose weight...

ohmygod! that is by far, the most disturbing thing i have ever heard!!

things like that are reason that I dont want to travel to countries of that kind.

I watch House... and the very first episode of House is about a woman who is very sick, and the cause was a tape worm in her BRAIN.

A long time ago my friend had some parasite she had a cut on her foot and we went swimming in some lake down in georgia that we find out you shouldn't swim in and a few months later they had to cut out a part of her skin on her foot like scoop it out...
