NWR: FH quit his job **UPDATED**

NWR: FH quit his job **UPDATED**

I knew this was coming...

FH injured himself at work right after Labor Day and was out for 3 days on DR's orders that when he return he be on 'light duty.' No heavy lifting, installing, etc. His boss asked FH not to file under workers comp, that he would just pay for the DR visit co-pays and pay him for his time off.

Yesterday, FH re-injured himself because they hadn't put him on light duty AT ALL. He was lifting/carrying over 300 lbs. and now his lower back is swollen so bad it's pushing his belly out and swollen over the sides of his pants. The DR is concerned that he may have injured his spine or herniated a disc. His main boss is away on vacay, and the guy who is in charge just kept telling FH 'whatever' when he voiced his concerns. They had an argument and FH walked away. Another employee mocked FH and made fun of his injuries in front of everyone else So FH walked back in, handed in his CC and phone, and said SEE YA!!!

He's beside himself and everyone's been calling him to see what happened. They've been pushing FH to the limit for a while now and he's been getting crapped on left and right. I feel like they forced him to quit. His mom is calling her lawyer in the morning to see if he has any legal recourse. They refused to switch him to light duty. They refused to file under workers comp. They refused to follow the DR's orders. They still haven't paid over $300 in co-pays. They crap on him when his jobs come in over-time when they have him doing insane amounts of physical labor while he is training a new hire. FH goes way above and beyond for his job, works OT and weekends, and is a great, reliable and honest employee. It's so unfair to him.

I'm not concerned with money or anything, I just feel really bad for FH...Can anyone spare some good thoughts for us that this all works out and he gets a great new job???

**UPDATE**

FH went down there yesterday and spoke to the guy in charge and told him everything that was going wrong. The guy basically told FH that if he had a problem with the work, he should have told him to rearrange the schedule and put him somehwere else. FH told him, That's not my job, that's what you're responsible for. They already had the Help Wanted sign up

Last night, the guy called FH and said that he spoke to the main boss on vacay and 'admitted his guilt' and that he hadn't put FH on light duty, that they were making fun of him, that he didn't heed the DR's advice. As of now, FH is to stay home and recuperate (he has to go for X-rays today) and when the boss gets home on Thursday they are all having a sit down.

Now, this looks pretty crappy on the guy that within 3 days of the owner being on vacay, the shop has gone to shiz and people are quitting! I think the owner is scared because he knows FH could sue over the workers comp thing and the negligence they displayed towards his health.

Thanks for all your replies. Even if he doesn't go back there, he'll be able to get a job super-quick I'm sure!!!

Re: NWR: FH quit his job

there is definitely legal action he can take, but i hope he has on some kind of written documentation that the boss said that he would pay for the Dr. bills... if not, it might be hard proving that.

i will think happy thoughts for you and FH... i hope everything works out!!!

Girl...everything will work out fine. U didnt want ur FH there anyway. They had no business doing that to him. And they will pay. Because when u lose someone who does all that work it falls back onto people who arent use to it. And they quit. So do not worry about a thing

I would imagine that you would be able to sue...that is awful!!! Good luck to you and tell FH to just relax and focus on feeling better. A new job will come along...it all works out!!

Re: NWR: FH quit his job

Honestly, the same thing happend to my father. He use to do construction and he had an accident where he broke both his hands, had to have operations. The company gave him time of to recover and paid him his salery nd all the bills from doc. Then when he went back to work they treatred him like crap giving hi, the same labor to do, that led to another accident, where he had one hand broken, his boss wasnt sympathetic or anything. He wanted to pay him like he did before but we said no, and sued because the company wasnt providing proper equitment and safety. I wouldnt suggest ure FH going back to that job. He should try and find soemthuing else. I m so glad my dad got a new job now and its less manuel labor and he has a union now. A company that tells u not to go through workcomp is hiding something. Good luck to you and FH.

For some reason I thought he was UPS-but still those manual labor jobs lifting, bending up and down constantly plays a huge role in stress, physical pain, and mental distress. He could definately speak to someone in the union-they dont play games they definately fight for a worker!

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Your spine is not something to mess around with... that's crazy that they had him doing ridiculous amounts of work when he was hurt. It's probably for the better that he found out what jerks he was working for. I'll keep my fingers crossed that he finds a great new job! Anything has to be better than that place!

IM sorry to hear.... poor fh... that is horrible!
I cannot believe they would abuse him like that... You should definitly see if you can take some legal action bc this was a huge injustice to him!

Im sending lots of good vibes to you guys!
