They are if it comes to Italy.....it's kinda ironic...

I too think Brazil is gonna take it once again!

I'm rooting for Brazil! I'm Brazilian, they play Croatia today!

I didn't say all Italian Americans aren't patritotic...I said most and that's true.

It also depends how far back one if Italian. I have noticed that most of the people that are not patriotic are usually first generation...

I hate to disagree on these boards, and i dont want to start anything - i always stay away from drama, but i would just like to say one thing:

Both my parents were born in Italy, which makes me first generation ... but my family is proud to be American! I am proud to be in America, and so happy that my parents came to this country to provide me with a 'better life' than they had. I am by no means not patriotic ... and Im sure that other ppl feel the same way that i do... and not just italians

As far as soccer goes, I would rather see Italy win over the US .. and the reason being is bc Soccer is a European sport. thats where it originated. If it was football or baseball then I would root for the US before I would root for a european country (if it was worldwide) bc baseball and football are American sports.

I really hope that my comment does not start anything ... but i dont agree with the comment that 'most first generations are not patriotic'

I agree with you Francesca. It is just a game, so I don't necesarrily think rooting for another country is 'treason' so to speak.

Because in that case. I know for a fact there are a lot of New Yorkers that don't like the Yankees.....doesn't mean they are not loyal or hypocritical.

Ok, well i guess im not most then, Im first generation & i completely dissagree with you, but last I checked this thread was about soccer ,,

FH DVR's all the games and watches them after work.. I watch a few when I get a chance. The teams I'm rooting for are Portugal and Trinidad because of my and his nationalities.

The USA team just can't compete with the rest of the teams.

Well Korea beat ToGo today...2:1.

I was kind of going for Togo because they are the underdogs....but oh well.

My ******** team didn't even QUALIFY this time around.... EERRGGHHH,,,, Silly Ireland... they are my team.

But I guess I will have to root for Italy now... FH father is from Italy and he's a big fan. I also like to watch the USA get pounced because compared to the rest of the world, we really suck! but secretly, i root for them....

Anyway.....BRAZIL beat Croatia today 1-0 I just finished watching on tivo!!!!
Kaka is a cutie!!!! hehehe

If anyone was on 18th ave. today, you would've seen the patriotism. Not only first generation was out there cheering but second and third........it was great.....

I was on 18th Avenue yesterday after the win and I can't put into words what it looked like. Flags everywhere, cars painted green, white and red - the line of cars parading down the streets went on for over a dozen blocks! and this celebration was only for getting to the quarter finals - if Italy makes it to the final I can't even imagine what it's gonna be like

I was rooting for USA, because I that's my country! (and I am patriotic)
now that they are gone, I am rooting for my second team, Italy, as that's my background!

Brazil won 3 to 0 over Ghana! Brazil weren't playing their best though....Ghana was amazing! Mad props to them! Spain vs France next!!!!!!!!!!
Whoever wins plays Brazil!!!!!!!!!

I was there too......that was great!!!!!.....i cant imagine if they get into the finals all hell will break lose.......lol
