NWR: First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit

Hi Ladies!
Quick question for those who bought a home within the first time Home Buyer Tax Credit time period and filed an amended tax return to recieve the credit...how long did it take you to get the credit back?

Ha sorry but in my opinion that tax credit is a joke. FH filed for it but just received a letter stating that we are getting nothing back bc he makes too much money. We are sooo bummed.

Oh nooo. FH made too much too so I actually filed for it since we bought the house together.

Is that something you can do?

And Alana, we recieved the credit about 6 weeks after we filed with our accountant. We had no problems with it and it went towards our new kitchen

lol Annie - congrats on the new kitchen! Yes, also with us, DH made too much money to file for it, so I filed for it myself since we bought the house together. Per our accountant, we should be good.

Just spoke w/ the IRS...they are so backlogged that now it takes a minimum for 12 weeks to get the credit back. Oh well...

Nope, I make too much by a hair. FH made too much b/c he cashed in his annuity from his old job bc it depreciated by 10k in less than a year due to the sucky economy. So he cashed in on it before it went down to nothing and the IRS counts it as income, so he made too much. Not fair, they should let everyone get the credit!!! The govt scuks! It's ok, we're chillin with our old kitchen.
