Since last week, we have killed about 8 house flies in my apartment. And its not like there were 8 flies at once. We kill one, and then another one shows up! Our apartment is clean, there is no rotting fruit anywhere or food. We live in an apartment complex so i dunno if they are coming in through the vents. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it?
My mom had this problem--they were coming up from the drain! Maybe you can get one of those sink stoppers to ward them off??
ugh those fruit flies are the worst!!! we had the same problem in our apartment. we just kept killing them and after a few days they were gone. we also started taking out our garbage nightly - not sure if that had anything to do with it or not
FH and I had a problem with fruit flies. At first I would just vacuum them up, then it got unmanageable. I did the drain thing, had NO fruit or veggies in the house, get those stupid trap things- nothing worked!! Finally I looked online and it said that one fruit fly can lay something like 6,000 eggs at once. I ended up just getting one of those bombs you set off and stay out of the house for an hour. They were completely gone and no more headache.
no these are house flies. Another way to get rid of fruit flies is to put red wine in a shallow bowl with dish washing liquid. They are attracted to the sweet smell and land in the wine. the dish washing liquid makes them stay in the wine so they cant fly out.
They sell a cleaner at Bed bath & beyond called Plink...its a little ball that you drop down your garbage disposal in you sink and it cleans it. I had house flys and the went away when I started using that. I think they were coming from the sink.
thanks for the info!!! I will def have to get that! I havent seen one in a day or so, so maybe it was a freak thing or they finally came to pick up the dead body in one of the apartments around me. hahahahaha
