SO for the next four weeks i'm barely going to have time to sleep, nevermind COOK! But, eating out every day/night just isnt in the budget! So i was hoping you guys could give me some ideas of what to buy/cook that would be yummy....healthy...and fast!!! This week i'm working 8pm-8am, so i basically come home, shower, sleep and then have a few hours to myself to eat and play around on LIW lol. Any simple 'dinner' ideas i could make? I also should be nice and leave something in the fridge for my FH. Next week i work 8am-8pm, so its a little more of a normal schedule. But i dont want to come home and cook for an hour just to go to bed on a full stomach and wake up at 630 with bad reflux. Any ideas for those nights? Then everything repeats, going to the night shift and then back to days.
Please help. I wanna go tothe supermarket sometime this week or weekend and i have NO IDEA what to even buy!
Thanks all!

Re: NWR- Food/Cooking help
I bought one just for that reason, but every recipe i look at has me chopping stuff and browing meat before throwing it all in. I could come home and chop onions etc, and brown some meat....but that takes away from sleep time lol.

Re: NWR- Food/Cooking help
Thanks for the website, i'm totally gonna check it out!!!!!!
I'm a sauce snob lol (thanks my italian grandparents for that), so my sause never takes any less than an hour of simmering....but i'll try your recipe! I have a great zuccini sauce recipe, but i have to be in the mood for it....i'm surprisingly not a huge pasta fan.
I really dont wanna go to work in an hour.

Re: NWR- Food/Cooking help
Bella, My fiance is a medical student so I am on the other side of it- trying to cook for him so that he doesn't have to worry about meals himself. But, at the same time I work full time as a teacher and am taking on advising, chaperoning etc since we just bought a place so I feel your pain. There are a couple of good frozen chicken pieces that you could throw in the oven for a little while (I buy Nature's Promise organic brand at Stop and Shop). You could also get some thin sliced chicken and just grill it in a pan. I marinade it in Good Seasons dressing. Put some of that with a boxed rice or a minute brown rice (boil in a bag if you want) and canned or frozen veggies and there's a good dinner!

Do you mind me asking where you are a resident and what you are doing your residency in? The medical field is not easy! What does your FH do? It's been quite the ride for us!

I'm an Emergency Medicine resident in the South Bronx, at St. Barnabas Hospital. My FH is an accountant/financial analyst (not quite sure of his title).
So far its been very rough...for me mostly. He misses me since i work A LOT....but i'm just dead most of the time
