NWR For all that have dogs, question on shots

I know there is a pet section on here but I figured I get the most results when I post here..

I thought they had past a new law that dogs after their first year of vaccinations no longer need their annual shots anymore.. b/c it was found that these shots actually makes the dog get illness's in the future..

I heard this from a groomer but my vet just sent me reminders that my dog who's a year and a hlaf old is due for his annual shots this year. I understand the rabbies vaccine but why all the others again? Have any of you that own dogs heard about this new law?

I was told by my vet on our last visit that they have discovered that the shots last longer than they originally thought, so that is why they no longer need to get certain shots every year.

ETS: it may be different for puppies though-my dog is 5, I would just double check with your vet

My FI is a vet and recommends animals get their shots every year - that is what is the healthiest for your pet.

This is a good link that explains the core vaccines: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?articleid=950

But as far as overvaccinating, something you can consider, is to have titer test done on your dog -Its a blood test (called a titer) that will determine how much protection remains from her last vaccination.
