NWR - For Those Who Recycle

NWR - For Those Who Recycle

This is totally not wedding related and I'm not one of those people who preaches to everyone about being 'eco-friendly' and 'going green' ( I believe everyone should just do their part the way they want) BUT - I just read an article in a magazine and wanted to share some info:

Apparently, whenever you recycle plastic bottles withs caps (water, detergent, hair products, etc) the caps get cut off because they are not recycable. So they get tossed and end up in the water and many sea lions and penguins are choking on them and dying

In an effort to help out with this problem, Aveda has collected recycled caps from its employees and used them to make new tops for it's limited edition Shampoo. They hope to be able to continue this initiative so between March 10th and May 10th, Aveda stores will be collecting plastic caps from H2O bottles, laundry detergent, facial cleansers, shampoo, and other products. When you bring in 25 or more caps you will receive a free sample from their hair or body line. Caps can also be mailed in.

I would just like to also make a note that I am in NO way affiliated with Aveda stores. I just came across this article in the latest issue of Shape Magazine and found it to be a fairly decent cause.

To an Aveda store. There is one in the Roosevelt Field mall. I'm so not a recycle Guru - I do try to be conscious of it, so FH and I have set up a little recycling bag in our kitchen and its kinda easy for us cuz we live in an apartment complex and u have to take the garbage to the disposal anyway and there is a recycling disposal right next to it. So we started to feel guilty .......and lazy too
I figure now that I will TRY to put the caps aside somewhere and whenever I take a trip to that mall, I'll drop them off. I guess every little bit helps.

I always did too - and might I say I was damn proud of myself for finally being part of the recycling family Then I go and read that I am killing penguins - which are FH's favorite BTW - and now I'm like 'Man, I cant seem to keep up'

I read that too....I think it was in Womens Health, or fitness or self or one of the 10 other magazines i subscribe to. Aveda def. has a good idea and I hope they keep it up....save the penguins!

OMG 'So they get tossed and end up in the water ' I find that hard to believe! How can they be so careless?! I've been an avid recycler since forever, (I was part of KIC club in Middle school) which started recycling in our neighborhood. I think recycling is a no brainer, we should all do our part its stupid not to. Anyway I re-use everything, all the bags I have form stuff bought especially groceries are used for my garbage bags and I always use paper whenever possible. I don't buy garbage bags ever, it saves me money too =) I hardly ever use paper towel, I always use rags and I just wash them and re-use. Also I hang dry whenever possible, dryers pollute the air especially with the dryer sheets and it saves electricity too. I can go on and on,,,but some ppl might think I'm a little crazy but anyway. Main pt thank you for letting us know. Will make sure i take those caps off from now on.
