We posted this on the Long island lost & found dogs site on facebook, as well as the tri hamlet newsletter on facebook. Might as well post here, the more people that see this the better off this BIG doggie is!
We found this dog, looks like a Mastiff, on our front lawn yesterday. After asking around the neighborhood with no luck, we had to take him to the shelter (Brookhaven) yesterday afternoon. Apparently he does NOT have a microchip- as we heard they will be adopting him out starting Friday or Saturday. He is young (puppy-like and on the slim side) and well groomed. He had a collar but no tag. He has gotten out in the neighborhood a few times from what we heard after the fact.
If anyone knows this dog, please please please FM me !
Awwwwww, poor guy. Looks like a Neopolitan mastiff. That's a tiny body compared to that massive head! I hope he finds a home!

Is Brookhaven no kill? If not please take him to Little Shelter in Huntington. They do not kill there. Poor guy, hope his family finds him. Post this on Facebook, everything goes viral from there.

they arent no kill but they are starting to adopt him out within 4-5 days because he doesnt have a microchip. in the 15 minutes we were there dropping him off, 2 families asked if he was available to adopt. we also checked off that they MUST contact us before euthanizing. we are calling daily. it is also all over facebook- on our local news page and lost & found pets LI. we just couldnt keep him at our house because my 3.5 lb dog would have end up hurt

I use to volunteer at Little Shelter. They will not take a dog that is found because you have to bring it to the town shelter. Otherwise the owner who may be looking for the dog will not know where to look for the dog.
