Stop going out to dinner. This is the number 1 reason why people spend a lot of money. Limit going out to eat to once a month. When you go, avoid appetizers and liquor- that saves a lot of money. Or order appetizers as entrees.

I know I should stop going out to dinner. That's where I spend so much money. But I want to go out and I always feel like life's too short, why shouldn't I do what I want..and that extends to everything, not just eating out? But that's obviously why I am broke.

FH and I used to all the time!!!! It def drains a hole in the pocket. When you do it once a month, it become special. And, you could always try cheaper options like Chipolte or Cosi or even Green Cactus. Chinese take out is usually cheap too!

no new clothes, no new shoes, less hair appointments (i have roots galore and i really need a haircut!), no manicures anymore - just pedicures, basically i dont spend any money on myself anymore, i just use my money to pay bills and put gas in the car everything else goes into my savings.....i eat cereal most of the time at work for lunch and we try to eat cheap when i cook dinners at home (lots of pasta dishes no expensive steaks anymore).....we do pick up a pizza or subway for dinner (about $12 for dinner so its not bad) and occasionally we'll splurge and order chinese we don't go out to eat that much but if we do we try and go to places like applebees instead of really going out - or we go to restaurants that offer 2 for 1 dinners during the week
