NWR: girls who own a house

How much did you put down as a down payment? You can FM if you want.

I think we are only going to be able to put down 20-30K.

Is that enough?? Are mortage is going to be insane right?!?! I know it depends on the house, but we want something in Queens or Western Nassau.

I'm clueless with this stuff so would love to hear from girls who did it or are in the process of buying.

Maybe we should just but a condo...

My FH and I bought a house this past november and put 20% down - my parents helped us meet it.

Our lender said 3% is the minimum. But keep in mind anything below 20% you have to take out a FHA loan which tacks on hundreds to your monthly payment.

There are upsides to buying now though including record low interest rates and the first homebuyer credit!

Yeah its better to put more down the less your monthly mort will be-- but also its been a lot harder with the banks these days and they require alot more then say 5 yrs ago.
