NWR: Girls with dogs / puppies

Original post by gabbie83

DH and I are thinking about getting a puppy.
We are debating between a few different ones - preferably small to medium size.
Just wondering what kind of dogs do you have? How big do they get? How often you have to bring them for a HC & all that good stuff?
Also - Where did you get your pup/dog?

Last night we went to puppy boutique in bklyn - omg the teacup yorkies are sooooo precious. 2 lbs. soooo cute

Dont do it!! Just kidding (well kind of). We adopted a lab 8 months ago, and as much as we love her to pieces, she is very hard work. Maybe its her breed, but it takes alot of time and energy to take care of them and train them. Just know that its a big commitment - a rewarding one though.

A pit mix is usually an American Staffordshire or Bull Stafforshire (pit bulls) mixed with another breed of dog, usually another terrier or shepard.

'Pit bull' is actually not a recognized breed name, but a type of dog, like a terrier or shepard.

we have a havanese, they are a smaller breed but not as small as the teacup yorkies and malteses. My vet thinks she'll grow to be 12 lbs when she's full grown. They're great companion dogs. We love her, here is a pic (after she decapitated her teddy bear)

I dont have a dog anymore but my advice is to stay away from teacups. Theyre very cute but theyre usually bred by sticking two runts together so they come out small. Majority of the time they have bad health problems because of this.
Good luck finding a puppy!

I have a pekingnese. You can see her pic in my album. Stay away from pet stores. Find a good breeder. I watched a special on Oprah and started to cry. They are allowed to breed puppies in a very inhumane way and sell them to puppy stores because dogs are considered 'livestock...'

Yeah...I knew all that. I have a pit myself. I was asking if Kristie had a pure pit or if it was a pit mixed w/ another breed.
Thanks though!!
