NWR--Girls with LV bags?

Can I clean the handles on my speedy with the magic eraser?



I'm not crazy about the oxidizing, its because I read the paper in the morning and then carrying my bag to work and the handles are turning black...

Whaddya think?

did u try the oil rub stuff??

I have a shop by me that cleans the leather and seals it...

I'm actually curious about this too. I have a speedy and love it but hate when I see other girls bags where the handles look SO dirty. If you hear some good advice - send it my way!

But those handles are bizarre, so I'm scared....

LOL I love that thing but there is no way I would use it on my LV! But ughhh I have those marks too! I hate them.... I scratch at them thinking they will go away but they dont.

Coach makes leather cleaner. It comes with 2 bottles one id to clean and the other is to condition. I use it on my leather shoes each year when I put them away for the season. It works really well. I've used it on my bags a few times and its been fine.

I wish I had a LV bag to clean...siiiigh

lol...really??? I have a white leather coach bag that I love but I wore it in the rain with a new jean jacket like the first week I had it and the dye from the jacket stained one side of the bag. NOTHING I tried to clean it with worked....I may just have to try the magic eraser!

I'd be terrified to do that. I don't clean any of my bags myself. Take it to a LV store and they will make arrangements to have it repaired/cleaned for you. The last time I had it done, it was like $50 which included the shipping. You get it back and it's like new!

Just so you know, you can do this with any good bag: coach, LV, prada, fendi, mulberry, etc...

After investing all that money in a good bag, I wouldn't take the chance of ruining it.

I have a Louis collection, I'm addicted! I wouldn't Magic Eraser it. You can take a warm, damp washcloth to the straps to get off any immediate dirt. Like geegee said if you take your bag to the store at Americana or one of the city stores they will have the handles replaced for you for a fee. You have to remember though, that they only replace the handles, so the leather patches on the bag stay on it. So you get the bag back with the really white looking new handles, and they're attached to really dark worn in leather. Once you start to darken and wear in the new straps it doesn't look as weird. It's definitely worth replacing your handles once every 3-5 years if you carry your Speedy every day! I love my Speedy!! One of my wedding presents was the Damier Azur Speedy 35!!!

Oooh - I don't blame you. I miss my bags when they're 'in for service' as I like to put it. Try the coach leather cleaner - it will help somewhat until you're ready to bring it in.

LOL! I was lusting after it for so long! I actually somehow ended up paying less for it in Italy because of the VAT! Woot!

My only issue is, I put too many things in it, it hurts to wrist carry

It's a suitcase! I pack it in!!! I'm used to carrying heavy bags haha!!!

That's what I asked for from FH for the wedding! I figure with the b-pics I'm certainly worth it!
