has anybody ever been to DR? my fh and i and some friends were looking to go away in april and originally they said cancun but now they are saying dr because its suppose to be cheaper...but im sort of aganist the whole thing bc we need to save!! and he goes out and buys and xbox 360 and now wants to go on vacation so i guess we will get married in the pool in my yard and live in our cars

We have been to Breezes in Puerto Plata and another Grand Paradise Bavaro in Punta Cana
Both vacations were great. they were all inclusive resorts. Puerto Plata is less expensive. They both had a club at the resort. We really liked that the places were all inclusive, we didn't have to leave the resort. Both places had BEAUTIFUL beaches, great food and restaurants, a lot of activites (even trapeze at breezes), and great people who worked there.
We were very careful about being in contact with tap water at both places though. Even in the bathrooms, there are signs that say don't drink the tap water, but they supply unlimited amounts of bottles. you have to be very careful (i wouldn't even eat the salad because i was scared it was washed in tap water)
Also, there were a lot of mosquitos in puerto plata so bring the bug spray!
One more thing...you have to remember that a four star hotel there is very different than a four star in the US. If you are expecting the ritz carlton over there, you are going to be let down and you won't have a good vacation.

well i don't have alot of info but my friend went to Punta cana twice and she absolutely loves it.

i know 3 different people who went to DR for a vacation, all did not like it
1 girl did not like the food at all. and just was not thrilled with the experience there
the other girl went, had horrible rude service, and no hot water for showering for 1 week. so she had to take ice cold showers.
the other guy went with his parents, and all 3 ended up in a DR hospital sick as dogs with food poisioning.
