To get some BC pills..this is my first time getting BC pills....any advice?? What will the Dr. ask me?? Anything I should bring?

I was gonna ask the same thing . Kinda important for a woman.

Well I went today and they go by income to determine how much you have to pay for the consultation and pills. According to my income I only had to pay $10 for the consultation and $5 for a pack of pills (they wont give you more than 3mths without coming back for a folow up)..I was happy...they also told me that if I bring my original birth certificate next time I wont be charged for anything because I can get free insurance. In any case, I was happy with my visit today..everyone was helpful. The wait was sssuuuppper long tho but well worth it. I will have to go back in June for a recheck and for a pap smear..BTW I went to the one in the Bronx.

No, I dont. I dont have any insurance as a matter of fact.

I was told that if I wanted a pap smear w/exam it would be $155...if I just wanted a consultation it would be $40 and then $20 for each mth supply of BC pills..
My your getting off cheap!

Im sorry to hear that. Which one did you go to and what happened?

Mine was in Georgia. They told me you did not need a down there exam to get on the pill. I came in and they would not give it to me because my dad had a stroke 4 yrs ago and I smoke. That's ok I understand that. but I was there a total of 5 minutes. I filled out the forms they looked at them and said no. Then they charged me 150 bucks.

I know your not supposed to, but I ordered my Yasmin from a website online for half the price. They come from overseas.

I feel the need to inform you that in my opinion smoking and taking oral contraceptive pills, particularly not under the supervision of a physician is risky behavior. It's not a matter of 'you're not supposed to,' it's a matter of not wanting to jeapardize your health, or life for that matter!

I understand what you are saying, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I have taken into consideration all the risk factors. But right now I don't have to many options. but thanks for the opinion!

ohhhh!! Is this the 1st time you saw a Dr? Did you get a pap? Id think they wouldnt let you on a pill if you never saw a GYN.

I know the whole not having Ins thing.....Why do you think I got married! Not only for Love!!!! hahaha

No..they sell you pills without having to do the pap right away. However, I do have to go back in 3mths for a follow up and for a pap..and then if everything looks ok and if Im happy with the pills they can prescribe me a years worth.

-This is not the first time I see a Dr. I was on my moms insurance until I was 22 (now Im 24) so I havent had insurance for over 2 yrs now..I did have a pap done two years ago and reg. routine visits to the dr. but now I cant because I have no insurance...and that really sux

- I was actually going to marry FH earlier than july 14th simply because he had insurance..but then they let him go so now neither one of us has insurance...
