Chicas....your help please! I'd like to host a graduation party for my lil' sister in May. She's done with undergrad!
Any venue ideas? *Queens *family friendly (will most likely be int the afternoon/early evening) *food *room for dancing

Verdi's is really pretty inside, Elite palace i already told you but posting here too lol, maybe Dante's or Bruno's on the boulevard...i dont know how good the food is..and Carosello's in Howard Beach.

Thanks. I called Bruno's and they quoted me $45pp...I'm meeting with them to see how low they can get but it might be a stretch.
I'm still waiting to hear from Elite palace.
I'm open to restaurants too, just need a well sized room where we can play music.

I had mine at Woodhaven house on a Sunday for like a late lunch/early dinner. We didnt include drinks, but they DID give pitchers of soda and beer. Wine and everything else had to be purchased.
They got a sit down meal and if memory serves me correctly the cost pp was like 18-22 dollars. I'm sorry I cant remember exactly, but it was pretty reasonable. HTH

O Parkside restaurant has a room but dont know how big it is and also O'Neills in Maspeth but dont know if they have a dance floor.

oo i love oneills and yes they have a dance floor but i dont think if u have a private party it opens up..b4 night time there is tables there for eating

Try Mezzo Mezzo on ditmars and 33rd street. They have an upstairs they rent out for private parties, we threw a bday there for my mom once. You can bring in your own music too and the food is good. They have tables plus they set up couches so can be a more loungey type feel.
There is also Ammos, place is gorgeous and its on Steinway between 21st and 20th ave, right next to Central, its the same owners. They have a few menu options to choose from so they can accomodate your budget.
I had my shower at Island this is also in astoria right by Kaufman studios, they have an upstairs you can use just for a private party and LOVE the look of it. Its alot more modern, its all white limestone type walls, white draping hanging from the ceilings, has tables and also cabana type sections. I have pics in my album if you want to see what the place looks like. The food is good too and you have alot of space. Since its afternoon you can also rent out the downstairs if you need even bigger space.
Theres also Ponticello, L'incontro but not sure if you can bring in your own music.
ALSO and i really recommend this place too lol, i had my RD here. They have a private room upstairs for parties. The food here is AMAZING!!! dh and i go ALL the time and even for our RD they did a great job. Its in LIC so 5-10 mins from astoria, its called the Waterfront crabhouse

Yeah both are different than a typical hall or even restaurant. At Mezzo Mezzo its alot of greek food but also other stuff too. Island they have different options, it is owned by greeks but then again i had pasta at my shower, salmon too and other stuff. Mezzo Mezzo is a cafe/restaurant downstairs so one day you and your FH can go there to eat lunch or dinner to see how you like the food. I know on some nights they used to have a belly dancer come perform, not sure if they still do that.
