Okay sooo I have mentioned before that I am an obsessive brusher bc I love my teeth lol. However it has now become a serious problem bc I have bad receding gum lines from this. I also don't think it's soley from that though bc my sister is worse than me and doesn't have it. I just think I inherited my mom's bad gum genes and that's what made this worse. So, I've been pushing off doing the dental work bc it scares me, but now it is a must. There is basically no gum left in front of my bottom 4 front teeth. They are so sensitive and I'm paranoid that they're just going to fall out any second (prob not but I obsess lol). So, my question is has anyone ever heard or had this work done before? I'm not sure what it's called but apparently they take some pieces from the roof of my mouth and put it where the gum should be and it all blends in??? I don't know I'm getting grossed/freaked out just typing about it. Anyone know if I should be worried, any input at all?

I will, I may get it done as soon as this Saturday bc I'm that uncomfortable and worried. Do you have a lot of sensitivity or are your teeth lose at all?

OUCH! It sounds painful! On my top I have one tooth where the gum is receding.. last time I went to the dentist to have a cleaning the assistant warned me to be careful brushing because it could disappear. I am so scared! I can't help that my toothbrush rubs against this part of my gum!

I've had this surgery twice....once when I was 3 and another time when I was 13. Don't remember too much. When I was 3, I was in the hospital actually but now a days obviously you just go to the oral surgeons office. I do remember when I was 13, it was very painful and I was bleeding for days. However, I remember that even later that night, I was feeling much better. - HTH

Hmm that is helpful thanks! My regular dentist seems to be able to do this also. I had two opinions done and both dentists do it often in the regular office. I wonder if that's a good sign or not, yikes I'm such a baby bc I'm afraid lol

My teeth arent loose but I do have sensitivity around my bottom guns.

i think its perio scalling. it doesnt hurt.. but they do clean out the bottom of ur gums or something.. they do it by quadrants.. from what i remember.

my grandma had this done..she said it didnt hurt but she has the highest tolerance for pain i've ever seen

that might not be what youre getting done... but no matter what it is..nothing hurts.. its the nerves u get b4 the procedure that kills lol
i had 2 impacted wisdom teeth taken out.. liek completely under my gums pushing on eachother... i helped the surgeon while he did it lol, granted i was laughing the whole time... but trust mee the worst part is if the assistant stinks and doesnt suction out all the blood lol
