Just a quick question. How many of you go twice a year or once a year. I always went one time a year with my old dr. My insurance switched two years ago so i had to find a new dr. They had me going twice a year for a 'well' visit because they said my insurance covered it. I no longer have insurance so i figured i'd be back to once a year. I called to make an appt. and the biatch gets nasty with me telling me it's mandatory to go twice a year. My old doc. never did that???? Are they just taking me for a ride just to make money????

My gyno says its once a year if you're not on birth control, but twice a year if you are on it. She said if you go the second time for the year its more to do a breast exam because the hormones in birth control can cause lumps...usually the other parts of them exam aren't necessary.

I go once a year but my BF's doctor (and a few other friends) go 2x a year. Many doctors like to do that especially if you are on the pill to monitor blood pressure and things like that.

And the girl yells at me telling me I was due in June!!!! Don't people usually send out reminders???? I work in two dentist offices and we always send out recall notices. I usually assume it's time for my annual when i need a new refill on my bc. Well apparantly this office doesn't send out reminders and likes to yell out you when forget.

mine doesnt send them out either...i guess some offices do and some dont

I usually go once a year but if they find anything abnormal insurance will cover 2x a year.

I'm way older than most of you, and my doctors have always required once a year, on BC or not. In fact, the only 'requirement' is that you can't get BC without an annual, otherwise it's your choice (though I recommend once a year at least!!!)

I go twice a year but just bc i want to. No gyno ever told me i HAVE to go twice a year. My gyno says its good to make sure you go at least once a year, i just go twice bc im weird like that lol and a hypochondriac about certain stuff haha. But i know after I go and they go to set up another appointment they never say anything about having to come again in about 6 months
The only time they tell you that you HAVE to go every 6 months is if you had a previous problem where you have to get a pap smear to stay on top of it and make sure everything is ok. If you had surgery of any type, if you had anything show up on your pap smear and in these cases i think its usually every 3 months maybe some cases every 6 months. Otherwise if you've never had anything like this then once a year is fine

YES. Unless you have a health risk that would require YOU to want to go in twice a year to monitor it. But even then its your decision. Usually they suggest. THATS CRAZY!
I go once a year. But one time i had an irregular pap & got some tests done which thankfully came back normal. Just a freaky thing. But i went back every three months to monitor it for an entire year but that was my decision! Of course my Dr. recommended it but still i decided to go. say get a new Gyno!
Because of problems friends have encountered with getting pregnant and a problem I encountered a few years back (finding a precancerous cell) I go avery 6 months. there is nothing more important to me than having a family and that extra visit just makes me feel comfortable that everything is in tip top shape...or at least everything that can be seen is in shape...lol. I say that if yuor insurance will cover it then do it...it cant hurt!

i'm pretty sure once a year is the norm. i go twice a year cause i'm on bc and get a 6 month prescription so in order to get another one i have to go twice a year.

I go twice a year. If your insurance covers twice a year, go...can't hurt. If it doesn't cover twice a year, I see no problem with going once a year. They only give a PAP once a year anyway. Unless you are on BC, because most doctors only write a prescription for 6 months....
