I feel like I was just let in on a huge secret!! I read it in less than 3 days...I NEVER read that fast!!

I know that the information in the book and all of the historical facts are unbiased and just there to allow people to have all of the facts before making a decision about their faith but WHOA!! It all makes sense!! It is making me question everything I was ever told as a Catholic growing up!!

I have about 100 pages left...I can't put it down!!!!!! I just got past a really important part.....very very interesting. There's some books that have come out since that have disputed the da vinci code....will definitely be reading them next!

Re: NWR: Has anyone ever read 'The Da Vinci Code?'

I thought the story was great - I learned so much!

I asked a good friend of mine, who's getting her Phd in medieval literature (also has a degree in art history) to take a look at it - and she said that the parts about Da Vinci and his specific artworks are all true (I dont want to give anything away to people who haven't read it) but she said that the author gets a lot of his religious history wrong - she said some of the mistakes are small - but some of his arguments have major flaws in them - he bases all or nearly all of his research on a very inconclusive historical document. . . she told me what one but i forgot. . . so then i asked her - ok, there are historical inconsistencies - but the basic premise of the book - is that true? and she said 'oh of course, yeah.' As an example she said that there is no proof in other gospels that mary magdalene was a prostitute - that was a later addition by the Catholic church to counter her growing popularity. yikes.

ummm.. I hated it. I know that it was fiction, and he took a lot of poetic license in what he wrote. I went to Catholic school for 12 years and although I don't go to church now, I remember enough to know that he just plain made stuff up. But it's good for a laugh, so long as you keep in mind that its fiction and is not based on fact.
