NWR-Has your doctor ever carded you?

I went to my GYN of 7 yrs and was asked for my Driver's License.
I found it wierd but I gave it to her and she made a copy.

This is the latest of strange things to happen at this office...needless to say, I'm looking for a new doctor.

That happened to me too

Someone told me it has to do with insurance fraud so that someone cannot come in and say I am Jane Smith and use her insurance and really be Mary Green

Not sure why they are realizing this now but alas get use to being carded at the DR office

I've had it happen to me. I really thought nothing of it, I mean, you fill everything else out on that form, so why not provide some proof of ID for insurance purposes. With many people without insurance, I would think the threat of fraud is pretty high, and that some safeguards are needed. Or else what would prevent me from borrowing my mom's health insurance card?

The thought did cross my mind but I was still taken aback being that I've been going there for so long.

I work at a drs office and we make a copy along with your insurance card to verify identification, so no one can use your insurance card except for you

all the time now - it's to prevent insurance fraud. I believe it's required.

I work in a Dr's office, and we do it for two reasons, one is for the insurance, to make sure the names match and the other is for security reasons. All employees must wear an ID and every one who enters our office must present an ID or no visit.

I think when I first went they asked for it along with my insurance card.....maybe they just need it for records or to put claims through to insurance?

Well, I guess I better get used to it.
Not to mention..once I change my last name!
