NWR: Having trouble being excited for her

Original post by monkeybuttz

My best friend is pregnant and I am happy for her but I am not excited............at all. I know, I know Im a horrible person but I am not interested in having kids or anything pertaining to kids. In fact, Im actually afraid of them.
We met for lunch and thats all we talked about. I want to be excited and show my enthusiam but I cant..........what can I do??????

Please dont think that I am a horrible person-I have just known for a long time that being a parent is not the life path for me.

TIA

Im really not and evil unloving friend. I have been through many many ups and downs with her and have always given her all of my love and support. I even offered to babysit when the time comes so that she can have some alone time. Im getting the feeling that I expressed myself in a bad way in the original post

You didn't say anything wrong in the original post! It's completely understandable that you feel the way you do..You did not express yourself in a bad way at all so don't worry about that! We all understood what you meant!

i hear you on the dont want kids thing.. and my friends no that i am not going to babysit anyone's LOL its a running joke

i actually do like kids.. but im not for their bodily functions or bad behaivor

i think you will be excited after she has the baby.. its really an amazing thing... my boss has had 2 babies since i started working for her, and she brings them to work... i thought i was going to be miserable with them there.. but actually when they aren't there i kinds miss them.. they are cute and funny.. and i never have to change a diaper or deal with any other bad baby things LOL

I totally feel your pain! Whenever I hear anything regarding my friends kids, I'm always like...
'yeah...whatever' I just found out one of my friends is pregnant again. Obviously she's thrilled, but I was like 'So...I hear your a s s can't get drunk for a while...***** for you.' LOL. (AS A JOKE OF COURSE)

I am happy for them, but I'm not 'excited' about it. But I think it's b.c I'm not up to that stage of my life just yet. But like many other brides have mentioned, I'm sure my friends are sick of me talking about the wedding too so I guess it all evens itself out.
