Ok...so my arms have been my nemesis my entire life. I have always had little annoying bumps on the back of my arms and the skin is red and blotchy. They don't itch or anything but I am always so self conscious about it. When i was younger my dermatologist gave me a perscription for Retin-A. This made it worse and basically ate away at my skin and hurt like HEL! I try to exfoliate but it irritates my skin that it becomes even more red! Any suggestions? TIA!

Sounds like keratosis pilaris....I have something similar...Eucerin and exposure to sun help me A LOT...let me know how you make you...I've never gone to the doctor for my bumps but know where you're coming from....good luck!

It also sounds like eczema. My friend has it and usually hydrocortisone cream helps it.

ugh Retin-A is the WORST!!! my dermatologist gave me that for my skin and within a week it burned my skin, it turned bright red, and the whole area became so sore, i couldn't even touch it because it burned so much and even showering was so painful bc the water touching my face hurt so much.
When i was a kid i had that on my arms too, i was about 10 or 11 so i really don't remembe what they gave me sorry.
Try creams for rosacea. My mom uses a cream called Rosaderm and very gentle on your skin. Also if you want tell the dermatologist to give you something alot lighter, retin-a is for pimples and its really strong there is no reason you had to use that.

he said to exfoliate gently in the shower and then moisturize!

hi - i have this too...i have been using a scrub from Sabon - they are located in Roosevelt Field mall and also have locations in the city. It is called 'Body Scrub' - Patchouli Lavender Vanilla. it smells amazing and leaves your skin feelings like a baby's booty! I've have been using it for a couple of months now and i have noticed a difference. it's kinda pricey, but lasts for a long time and no need to use it everyday. they also have the lotion (which also smells amazing!) I love that place, go get your hands washed and you'll be sold.
I've also tried retin A -i have bad acne - it's awful! I HATE retin A, it does nothing for me. Now for my skin I am using Cleotin T and Finacea - they are working ok, better than retin A, but still not where I want to be. I've hated my 20's because of acne -i never had this in high school or college, and it totally *****.
