I always get these weird pains in the back of my head, behind my ears but in my neck - basically at the base of my skull ... almost like a headache but not the same as a normal headache... am I alone here? Is this something normal?
any docs in the house?

I get it all the time, on and off for months +. I used to get migraines all the time so I assumed it was related to headaches - maybe tension headaches? What exactly is a tension headache?

For how long? Like since you were little or did it develop recently?
migraines since about 14, but about a year with this.

I used to get them all the time when I was planning the wedding. They mysteriously went away on August 9th!!! If you've had headaches since you were 14, you may want to go to a doc. Feel better.

The pain in the past year could just be tension but I strongly urge you to go to the dr just to make sure it's nothing serious

no weakness just the pain in the back of my lower head/upper neck on the left side ... i looked up tension headache and it sounds very similar. Im going to try to get a doc appt. anyway

i had one on sunday also - it ******, I had to work and fly from chicago to NY with a migraine

Doctor will help rule out anything serious, but it sounds like my tension headaches. Get plenty of water, sleep, and try to take some time to relax and meditate.
