NWR: Help w/ 'the pill'

I posted this on NWR but i was afraid that there wouldnt be as many viewers and i really need help

I have been off the pill for 4 ys bc i HATED the way it made me feel and i hated having the water weight gain.

Anyway, my period is SOOOOOO bad,. I have literally missed SO many days from work bc I can not get out of bed. Today I was in so much agony that I paged my gyn. and asked him for something FAST (he had already given me Anaprox whihc was like taking candy to my horrible cramp). He insists the only thing thatll help is going back on the pill and he suggests YASMINE.

Are any of you on YASMINE and if so, did you gain weight or do you have other problems?

TIA

I tried Yasmin a few years ago and hated it...it didn't agree with my body and I swear I gained like 5-8 pounds in 3 weeks..I felt so gross

I know many people have been sucessful with it but it just didn't agree with me

HOW WEIRD! I am starting Yasmin tonight!

I had similar problems when I was on the pill (I think we spoke about this). I was a total monster! JO and I had just moved in together, so I'm not sure if it was the Pill combined with the emotions, but I was a raging B! Anyway, went to the gyno recently, and she recommended Yasmin - she said it's a lighter dose. I'm finally going to start it tonight (want to regulate myself for the Big Day, plus we're playing with fire), I will let you know how it goes!

I'm assuming you spoke to your sis about this? What does she recommend?

I am on Ortho-tri cyclen low, and I've had no problems (originally I started on regular ortho-tri cyclin and switched to low a few months ago). Maybe with a lower dose of hormone you won't have as many side effects.

I think the pill works differently with everyone's bodies... trying it is an excellent suggestion... you can always go back off it...

Yasmine is the only one that has worked for me. I tried 9 different pills until I tried Yasmine and I have had no more water weight gain than I have had from any others.

My periods were unbearable and I would get cysts constantly that were so painful I would crawl into a ball with my heating pad and cry for hours. Now it's no problem and I am regular for the first time in my life.

Try it - you never know what will work for you. If it doesn't, there are so many others out there to try.

Good luck.

Ive been on Yasmin for years - never gained a pound. It was the easiest on my system and I have been on 4 different pills. After being on the pill initially, if you keep gaining weight, guess what, it ain't the pill thats to blame.

I am on Yasmine and it works great for me. I was on the patch and I gained so much weight with it. I don't retain alot of water w/ Yasmine. As far as pain, I still cramp a little, not as much as before.

Go on orthro evra (the patch). I am like you and have very painful periods. I was on the pill for a while and all it did was make me sick. I tried all different brands, but nothing worked. The patch is terrific!! I never feel sick, and my periods are a lot less painful. I never gained weight on the pill or the patch, but I eat very healthy. The only negative is you have to have a patch on your body, and sometimes it gets a little itchy. Give it a try!

I am on ortho tri cylclin low dose also....I have never had any problems whatsoever but I also never have any period problems such as cramps and stuff....I guess I am weird and lucky....My friend is on Yasmine....she seems fine with it....I also hear good things about the patch....and there is also that BCP that gives you 4 periods a year-but I hear that is a bit dangerous.....Hope this helps!

I used it and I had a serious liver problem several months after starting it...not sure if it was related!!

ETA: I had a few friends on the patch and shot and gained a lot of weight that was attributed to its use!

Re: NWR: Help w/ 'the pill'

Yasmin was the 5th pill I've tried and like the others developed side effects. With Yasmin My boobs grew a whole cup size!! and were extremely painful. I only stayed on it for 2 months, I couldnt take it..

I had given up the pill for while...

I just went on Orth Tricylen Low( my second month) and knock on wood so far so good..

Good luck, everyone's body reacts differently, I hope everything works out for you
