nwr - hobbies? ceramics anyone?

ok so ive been feeling kinda blah lately and i think its because i need to start doing more things that interest me ...

i dont really see to many of MY friends anymore, most live out of state so we always hang out with FH's friends (who are my friends too) but you know what i mean ...

i dont really play sports anymore and they were always a HUGE part of my life...

ive been in this funk for a while and its starting to bring me down in every aspect of my life! anyone else feel this way?

ive decided to try and do something for myself, something that interests me, will make me happy! in college i took some ceramics classes and i FELL IN LOVE with it. i was always artsy in HS - mainly mixed medias, oils, acrylics etc. Ceramics is a blast and its so rewarding.

Has anyone thoought about taking classes at night? Like ceramics, pottery, photo etc? I found a place in Dix Hills call the Art League of Long Island and they offer hundreds of classes! Would anyone be interested in classes this fall?

thanks for listening to my rant i just really need to make some changes in life - to start enjoying everything more and i think this would be a great outlet/destressor!

WHOSE COMIN' WITH ME?

I how you feel, I'm actually in a very similar situation. I love crafts, but cannot afford $300 especially since we will be closing on a house hopefully within the month. I would definitely hang out if the price wasn't too high though

I would love to do something productive fun....I used to work at a ceramics shop....even if we bought fired pieces at AC Moore/Michaels and got together to paint...that's cheaper (we know we all have coupons!) and fun too!

Buy a piece and paint, bring an appetizer/dish....a crafty party!

thats such a good idea!!

i wish there was a way we could get fired pieces, then we could glaze and raku and then take them somewhere to fire them! thats the best part, to see what they look like after firing!!!

I’d be interested! I really have no skill in stuff like that, but I think that could be a great idea…I personally would push for jewelry making course—I love making jewelry!
