NWR: home birth?

NWR: home birth?

I am obsessed with being pregnant and giving birth - i still have about three - four years until we are going to start trying BUT i have been this way for years. I read 'What to Expect while you are expecting' when i was 14 lol Now i am obsessed with the pregnancy board on LIF.

Anyway, do you girls know anyone who had a home birth?

I am too much of a worry wart to do this but I was just curious if anyone had any experiences with this?

I am planning on having a drug free delivery when the time comes (planning is the key word. . .i know i will never know until the time actually comes. . .i dont need to get attacked for saying that like i usually am from the women in my family )

Re: NWR: home birth?

some friends of ours did this on their third child. They said a woman came to their house cleaned and cooked and while she was in labor she was able to walk around, eat cereal and do whatever she felt like doing unlike the hospital. Then they put like pads down on the floor so there wouldn't be a huge mess.

In the end she said it was FAR better then a hospital. They had a 15 min drive to the nearest hospital if something should of happened and it cost like $500 compaired to the $7,000 bil of the hospital they said.

I am not sure if i would do it the first time around I personally would be scared but if your close to a hospital why not?

I'm the same way. I love the whole pregnancy and birth experience. It's something that I'm looking forward to. FH and I will start trying on our 1 year wedding anniversary. I also want a drug free delivery but I don't want to do a home birth or a water birth.

my dad was born at home hmmm other than that ive heard of people doing it but nobody im close to.

HAHA dont worry what others say, i think MANY women say they will try natural, i say the same thing so dont feel silly saying that...Of course i do take into consideration alot of women saying that they said the same thing and once it happened they changed their mind...But hey theres nothing wrong with wanting that...Plus sometimes you don't have the option of taking drugs, if you dont get to the hospital on time they cant give it to you so you have no choice but to do it naturally

yeah i guess my parents and aunts and uncles were born at home too - but back then in sicily they really had no choice
and i am pretty sure they werent getting massages or listening to soothing music while it was happening. Especially my great great aunt who was going to get water - gave birth - then continued to go get the water - then walked back with the baby and a bucket of water . . .

about hte drug free birth - the last two births in my family ended after 24+ hours with emergency c-sections so. . .when i say i am going drug free i am met with a little bit of hostility!

my sister's second was an all natural birth, not by choice she just got there too late and she said that she cant really remember the moment her first child was born bc she was so out of it but with her second it was such a great experience!

Re: NWR: home birth?

I work with a guy whose wife recently had a baby. For the whole nine months he told everyone (not exaggerating) how his wife was going to have a water birth, no drugs at all. And they were very serious. I mean he told us about this in such a degree that we would get grossed out.

Long story short, there were complications and there were lots of drugs involved. She had to get a C-Section.

I don't want to have babies at home and I do want drugs. But I can't wait to start having children!!

Re: NWR: home birth?

my mom pushed me and my bro out with no drugs To be honest i am scared to get the needle in the back so i am going to try my hardest not to get it. My one friend and my cousin had complications due to it and now since i react badly to everything i am afraid to take it.
