NWR: Home buying/ credit ?

I know a lot of us have home buying somewhere in our thoughts. Just curious----does anyone know what kind of credit scores people have to have to qualify for a decent home loan?

725? 675? 650?

Thanks!

well really anything that is 750 or above is a great score--and will definitely make a big difference in the APR for the mortgage you qualify for .

i think to get a decent rate-- you really need a minimum of 650-675. i'm not saying you can't get approved for something if you don't have that--but the APR would be horrible and really bring up the payments ALOT.

i remember a mortgage broker told me to be considered 610 and above...but in the lower 600's you wont get as great of an apr. 650 and above you'll get better and if you're in the 700's and above then dont even worry

I just saw an article recently that said they are changing how they calculate credit scores..so that might change things
