Today FH and I were supposed to grab dinner and see a RH. Well my FFIL just called to tell me that they are putting their dog to sleep at 4:30 this afternoon. FH comes home from teaching at 4 and he has no idea. I know he's going to have a serious break down. He is so attached to that dog and I feel horrible but she is in pain and suffering and I have known it was coming. I tried to talk to him about it recently but he just cannot talk about it. Ugh I don't know what to do. I was never close to his dog even though I love dogs. His dog has been paralyzed from the waste down & in diapers for a month.

Re: NWR-horrible day.
awww im sorry!! i hate seeing animals in pain.... when i had to put my cat down my mom got me a stuffed animal it was a cat with angel wings and she wrote me a nice letter saying the cat was better in heaven.. ( i know sounds corny) but when ur in love with an animal it helps a little... i put my cats collar on the stuffed one....

Oh no I am so sorry to hear about this! It will be hard for him at first but in time he will realize this was for the best. I'm sure he will be grateful to have you help him get through it!

Oh no! That's awful. It truley is very tough to lose a pet. Especially one that has been in the family for a long time. As long as your there for him, I am sure he will be fine.
We lost our family dog last year, she was in so much pain and it was awful. But we got through it.
I'll say a pray for him and the dog!

aww i am so sorry to hear about that. the dog is suffering and it is the right thing to do. Hopefully FH will realize that and be okay with the whole thing. I am sure he will be really upset about it, but i guess the only thing you can do is be there for him.

Re: NWR-horrible day.
One of my good friends had to do this last week. If the dog is suffering, its best thing to do for the dog. Try to be supportive is my best advice.
