NWR: How could people do this? Updated again....

Original post by lipglossjunky73

Angelo gets up to buy bagels this morning, and tells us that the driver's side mirror on the car that his parents JUST gave us is busted. He used my car, and I decided to check out the other cars on the block, and saw that someone smashed our neighbors mirror as well!

This was done deliberately - there were beer cans all across the street and our neighbors had a party last night. We called the police, and he went to the party neighbors and there was no answer. He told us he would come back later and get to the bottom of this (Go Suffolk county cops!!!!)

REALLY - HOW could people destroy others property? Don't they know how hard it is to survive on LI without extra expenses like vandalism?

As drunk as I've ever been in my life - I have never thought - hey - let me go make some expensive damage on someones car...

I am so pissed!!!

I am so sorry that happened to you, but I am happy that you found out who did the damage and that the parents are making her pay for the damage! I know I may sound old when I say this, but teenagers are so different now from when I was a teenager!!! Please let us know what the daughter says to you when she actually does come over.

ETA - I didn't see your last post, that the parents are making the daughter responsible for fixing the damage. I truly APPLAUD them, they are teaching her a valuable lesson about taking ownership of your actions!!

Well - they came over this morning - the daughter was supposed to come too but all of a sudden she was sick... They then said she was shy and she'll write us a note...

I told them (nicely) - no - she should come over when she's feeling better face to face - she should learn from this experience and be accountable - the parents looked at each other annoyed (but they were hardly in a position to say anything back...) and said she didnt know them, wouldne let them in the party, so they were pissed, etc... And I said - when you have a party, you are responsible - plain and simple. We ALL had to learn from our stupid mistakes...

so they agreed (after agreeing to pay as well)

I'm sorry - but mommy and daddy can't come over and speak on her behalf - maybe she'll think twice and call the cops if kids wont leave her party inseatd of throwing them out and letting them do whatever to the surrounding area!

excellent!!!!!!!!!!!

You rock!!! Anyway the 'kid' is 18 - in the eyes of everyone she's an adult and must take respnsibility for her actions. Go you for making her learn this lesson!!!

Oooooo I definitely wanna hear how it goes when she comes over to apologize herself. Children need to learn responsibility for their actions. I can't tell you how many stupid things my brothers have had to pay for. And the fact that her parents didn't march her a$$ over there....ughhh!!!!

That's horrible! I know the feeling though,
the church around the corner from my house has a fair every year, and my little court becomes a zoo.
Theres no beer served in bottles there, Wendys and TB are not close by, but every year we get it all over our lawns! To top it off my mom had just pulled up half the lawn near the curb and planted it all, we were away this weekend and I came home to find it crushed!
I don't know how people are so inconsiderate, it makes me so mad!
