FH cooks them in a cast iron skillet... 3 minutes on each side and then he puts the whole thing in the oven for 3-5 minutes depending on how well done you like it. I have never done it and it makes massive amounts of smoke.... but it is delicious. He got the directions from mens health.

i cook all my stakes on the broiler or BBQ. If you do the broiler, with a good 1' thick steak 7 mins on each side...

flank steak is not usually very thick... you dont have to cook it very long...

I make on broiler or the stove (or both-stove first and than broiler) I used cast iron pan that I got as a gift and my apartment was covered in smoke and it was impossible to clean-I don't have the time or patience to take care of that pan so hopefully I can return it.

Yeah cast iron cookware is a pain to take care of. You can't soak it, you can't use soap and then you have to grease it. FH wanted one so he takes care of it

hmmm my apartment still smells like seared scallops from last night. good to know about the cast iron pan and that it seems so annoying to take care of. i def don't have patience for that!

I use my George Forman. Sometimes I do it in the broiler, but for some reason alot of times it don't turn out the greatest. I need to invest in a new grill though.

sorry... i think you should eat some steak though. it's good for you. lol that reminds me of when I was little my mom would say 'eat your broccoli, it puts hair on your chest'
Ummmmmm
Anyway the steak came out amazing. But it was really weird, it came out like brisket! I have no idea why this happened - i thought flank steak is not the same as brisket?
It was so moist and juicy and tender (but stringy like brisket).
I broiled it for 5 mins on each side, then cooked the marinade it was in, diluted it with some water, and put it in a pan, with the meat, in the oven, covered in foil. I left it in there on 325 for like an hour. I had to make sure it was well done otherwise FH wouldn't have eaten it. It was perfect! A little weird that I got out this really sharp knife to cut it with, and I literally could have just pulled it apart with a fork... i'm confused, but whatever. thanks for the tips ladies!!
