NWR - How much do give for a baby shower gift? w/Poll

Hi
How much do you spend on a friend baby shower gift? I have a ton of baby showers coming up and wanted to know what people usually spend.

Thanks!!!!

I totally agree. For my sister or something, I'd spend a lot more, but for a college friend or a girl from work, $30 - $50 is sufficient.

Thanks!!

Get this... My friend offers to buy a gift for our friend who is having a baby. I tell her I would want to spend between 60-75. It's the holidays and there are layoffs at my job. Besides I think that is still a generous gift. So my friends sends me the link to this gift its $289 + tax, divided by 3 people. I'm psst. I told her what I wanted to spend, and now I look like the jerk. I definitely am reiterating to her what I had said and I'll see what happens. I just think its rude.

If it's someone close-at least $100. If not $50.

a few things to consider.
1) Your financial situation. If your budget does not allow for more than 40 or 50 dollars, than you know what to do

2) How close of a friend is she? Is this your best frined? I would have a much higher spending allowance for my best friend as opposed from a friend that i see on occasion or perhaps just a work friend.

3) The person's need. Does this person have almost everything she needs already? if so, perhaps a less expensive gift would be great! or is there a great need for items, then why not consider 5 or 6 things totaling about 50 - 100 dollars, Budgeting allowing.

Hope this is helpful

Depends. Always $50... sometimes more. If I am not close enough to spare 50 for the christening then I send my regrets.

I usually spend around $50-$60 unless it's someone really close or if the person is having twins (then I spend $80-$100).
