One of my grad school friends is having her first baby and there's a shower but I can't go....this is the first time I have been invited to a baby shower as an adult! How much do I spend? I definitely want to send her a gift....we are friends, but not BFF or anything....advice?

Re: NWR: How much to spend for a Baby Shower?
I WAS IN THE SAME SITUATION, SERIOUSLY BABY STUFF IS REALLY CHEAP, I SPENT $20.00 AND GOT A CUTE LITTLE ROB/SLIPPERS SET AND WASHCLOTHES THAT SHE HAD ON HER REGISTRY.
BETWEEN 20-25 CAN GO A LONG WAY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU R NOT BFF

Ok that's what I was thinking....they also asked on the invite for ppl to bring a book for the baby's library, and since I LOOOOOOVE children's books, I figured I'd send a book too....so like a $25 gift of the registry and a book would be good, right?
edited for clarity

Baby clothes are insanely cheap, especially at Kohls. I buy all my baby gear there for showers, etc. Their clearance is pretty spectacular too...I once got 7 baby outfits for $25!
