NWR-H.S teachers out there I have a question about proper teacher conduct...

Is it appropriate in your opinion for a teacher to:
one: give a child an A on a project after giving an F because her mother called you and told you that the project was inconvient to the family.
two: call a students home after her mother called her in sick with pink eye to the attendance office and yell into the answering machine regarding her not showing up to her class and then basically be threatening in her second voicemail telling the parents she apologizes for the first voicemail but she didnt have all her info. before making her phone call but including that if the child is indeed faking then she knows what to do and so does the student in question.
three: when a student has a project and the computer at home(the printer in particular)is not working so she cant print it and the student asks the teacher if her mom could email the project to the school if they could print it up there and the teacher after two attempts at printing the project sends an email to the parent saying that you can try one more time then your out of luck and tells the child that she is going to deduct points for being late if this keeps up.

Just curious if anyone would feel as angry as I do and I have asked to speak with the teacher and received a very sweet manored email from her today(surprise surprise)but Im wondering if I should get the school involved as well.
Sorry but I needed to vent as well as needing advice.
thanks

I don't teach HS, I am Early childhood but here is my opinion....

For #1- give a child an A on a project after giving an F because her mother called you and told you that the project was inconvient to the family.

No, I do not thing that is right. It seems like the teacher is caving in to the parent.

two: call a students home after her mother called her in sick with pink eye to the attendance office and yell into the answering machine regarding her not showing up to her class and then basically be threatening in her second voicemail telling the parents she apologizes for the first voicemail but she didnt have all her info. before making her phone call but including that if the child is indeed faking then she knows what to do and so does the student in question.

This is not right, the teacher should have ALL her facts straight before making that phone call, and a teacher should never act like that on an answering machine! Ask to see the parents face to face instead!

three: when a student has a project and the computer at home(the printer in particular)is not working so she cant print it and the student asks the teacher if her mom could email the project to the school if they could print it up there and the teacher after two attempts at printing the project sends an email to the parent saying that you can try one more time then your out of luck and tells the child that she is going to deduct points for being late if this keeps up.

OK, it was a good idea to send the project through email to print it in school. Ink is expensive these days! Teachers should take that into consideration. And it is not the students fault it is not printing, the teacher should be more understanding!

OK that's my opinion....

I would go full force with this.

BTW - Do you still have the nasty message on the machine? Might be a good thing to save!

My daughter is in the 11th grade. I do have the emails as well as the voicemails and I was planning on giving and playing them for the dean but today I just dont know if it's worth doing. The only reason I know about the kid that went from an F to an A is because she is my neighbor and my daughter had to go over there all day everyday because this kid was having such a hard time with the project and her mom called me constantly about how unfair it was. This is the project were they bring a baby home for the weekend. Well her mom thought it was a stupid project because the baby would cry in the middle of the night and her daughter would flip out crying uncontrolably. She told me she was calling and before she did my daughter felt so bad for the kid because she cried in class on that Monday because the teacher gave her an F! The computer in the baby showed it was left to cry for hours, it's head was dropped back almost 200 times for the weekend. Then my neighbor tells me she called and complained to the teacher and the kid showed my daughter the A she got on the project. My daughter showed her and helped her with the whole thing and got a B which I really think is a fair grade for a parenting class and project like this because no parent is perfect, but to give an A after an F is ridiculous and insulting. As far as the computer, well it crashed and I had to dump it and reboot the system with the restore program. However, for some reason I cant find my printer software and I cant get the computer to find my printer. So needless to say I didnt have a printer for her project. I could've had her print it at the library but she babysits my little one's while Im at work and when I get home it's closed so I also figured that if she emailed it to her teacher she could see that she had it done on time. I also explained the problem in the email with the computer. Can you see how angry and frustrated I am with this? Okay done venting....Thanks for listening again.
