The owner of the company decided to close yesterday due to the snow. We just received an email that we could either make up the hours, use a personal or vacation day.
I thought if the company decided to close, that we would be paid but not have to use our personal/vacation days.
Please advise. Thanks ladies.

Look in your employee handbook (if you have one). I would say you shouldn't have to make up the hours, or use your own time. That is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard!!!!

You definitely have to use a personal day or make up the hours
Same at my company - and they are publicly owned so you know they follow all the rules...

Yup, and if you're planning to make up the hours, then you should find out if that's something that needs to be done within the same pay week. That's how it is where I work...which means you'll only have today and tomorrow to do so (unless you work weekends, of course).
Not all companies are the same...some are more generous with this...but it's not illegal.
