This past weekend, my FH's cousin asked FH to be his son's godfather, they're baptizing the baby two months before we get married. And the cousin turns to me and says, 'And when FH puts the ring on your finger, my son will call you 'godmother''. Is it wrong for me to feel left out and a little hurt by what the cousin said??

Your feelings are your feelings - they aren't 'wrong'. You feel hurt and that it ***** to feel that way.
I don't know his cousin - but it doesn't seem like he was trying to be rude or hurtful though. I think he was trying to include you and acknowledge your upcoming wedding. It is weird when you ask someone to be a godparent - but you don't ask their partner to be the other godparent. And sometimes you say awkward things to kind of make up for the odd feeling.
Don't feel too terrible! You are going to marry your love and you have a new nephew! CONGRATS!

Is there another Godmother to this child?!?!?! Maybe they just wanted you to be family first, before you became a godchild to this parent. I took it that way, unless there is another godparent I agree with ro, your feelings are yours, I hope she meant it in a good way and hope you can feel better about it

There is no godmother to this child. I just felt it was wrong of them not to include me since we are getting married just two months later.

i took it the same way too. it sounds like his cousin was saying youre going to be the godmother once you are married...officially family. no?

But I won't really be the godmother since I won't be part of the religious ceremony. Why bother trying to include me with an afterthought??
