So a little background- One of my very best friends is this girl Lisa and her boyfriend is a guy named Frank. I went to HIgh school with frank and we are all a close bunch.
Now today is Frank's Bday...now yesterday morning we all get a text saying that he got this great deal and its only 50pp for a party bus to the city, lounge admission to a great place, and bottle service. Great price right? Well we were really excited to go!! We were aware of teh weather but I kept saying we will go blah blah... Now I just took a nap and woke up like an hour ago to FH going, 'Jenn, we are not going to the city tonight, the roads are terrible.' We called the bday boy and left a message telling him we will take him out to dinner blah blah...and then I called my friend Lisa (the bday boy's girlfriend),,,she was not happy that we were cancelling and was very standoffish. I apologized and told her that I hope that she understands. Well I then sent her a text again stating that I hope she understands...she writes back saying that she feels bad for him bc its his 30th and people are giving him a hard time...
Thing is this... This happened an hour ago and I still feel bad, but I think that FH is right... roads are bad and people should bot be going out tonight... and he only planned this YESTERDAY,...
Should I just let it go... or should we have gone? I feel really bad

the roads are very bad, and i dont think its safe to be out.
although it does ***** that things happen like this b/c of the weather, but ppl need to understand and take into consideration in the wintery months that things might happen like this
sorry you are feeling that way

dont feel bad.. its terrible outside and god forbid something were to happen on the road tonight! You dont need that.. your friend is probably just mad because everyone is cancelling on him because of the weather regardless of the price. Safety first.. you are taking him to dinner some other time so its s ucks but its not your fault that its been snowing since like 11am.

I don't see the big deal since this was planned yesterday, knowing there was snow coming. Don't feel bad. Safety FIRST!

Don't feel bad at all! You have to look out for your safety, and they should be concerned for their well being and their friends as well.

I kinda see it both ways. How far away is this travel for you? I mean if it were your 30th and this is how it turned out you would be bummed too.. and if it were your FH bday and you were looking forward to seeing him have a great bday.. you would feel the same way she does.
But it's always important to be safe and if you dont feel comfortable then well you dont feel comfy and maybe should be out?? The did plan it last minute.
But really.. If it were me I probably would have still gone and had a blast with my frend for their bday. But that's just me... I always make it a point to do something sweet and out of my way for a close friend on their bday. Actually i probably would have more fun.. because I think due to the weather places wont be OVERCROWDED! But there should still be a nice crown out on a sat night. so i would have gone and made a memory. imo. sorry if it doesn't help you any.

PS - I dont think you are a bad friend though. i think if you decided to go for no reason then maybe but you do have a reason and it's not just a maliscious thing.

I agree! This happens to Fh and I all the time! We always celebrate everyones bdays and when it comes to ours people always bail on us I understand why your friend is upset with you.....sorry.
ETA: I dont think you are a bad friend and im sure your friend will get over it, but its just disappointing when you have a big thing planned and everyone backs out.

Kerri.. thats my problem here is that I would have gone too... but FH put his foot down and was like, ' We are not going'....if it were up to me, I woudl have been there no problem! Thats why I do feel bad
you girls are right though, they will get over it...and we will take them out to eat to celebrate on another day so...

Re: NWR. I feel bad...am I a bad friend?
Jen, I was supposed to go to dinner for FH's sister in law today. It was her 30th birthday this week too. And FH had a wrestling tournament today and we were going to go meet them out afterwards. But while we were at the tournament, the weather got bad and so did the roads. FH's brother called me and told me not to come bc we would have had to go out east and he didn't want us driving. He understood. Your friend should too! I don't think you should feel that bad b/c your safety is more important! xoxo

No the roads are bad, just driving home from Massapequa was nerve wracking, being on a party bus all the way to the city would probably not be a good idea.
