My FH went to the doctor yesterday because he's been having stomach issues (not what you'r prob thinking lol he's just feeling full for hours and burping like crazy lol) after he eats. So he had tests done and he said it might be an ulcer. Plus now he got a call from the doctor yesterday after the results of his bloodwork and he said that he also has a little bit high cholestorol. He's 26 years old (b-day was on monday ) he works out, eats pretty healthy (IMO) doesn't it seem weird that he's having stuff like this happen to him? I'm not good with these kind of things, now I have like worries on my mind I've heard of an ulcer but I don't know what it is. Has anyone had any of these issues or know anything that can help them?

Re: NWR: I hate worrying
I'm sorry you are worried I know wht that is like.
Here's what I know:
My FH works out all the time and eats pretty well and just found out that his cholestreol is high too....we spoke to the dr. about it and he explained that genetics has a lot to do with it also. So they put him on a more strict diet b/c the dr. wants to see if they can control it that way w/out being on meds since he is only in his late 20's.
Ulcer's are like swores in the lining of your stomach. People say they are casued by stress but there is some debate over that. They think it is more genetic or caused by a bateria (or something like that). It's a treatable condition just have to really pay attention to what he eat...nothing spicy, etc.
He might want to go see a gastrologist b/c it might not be an ulcer it could be IBS or chrones...sorry not trying to scare you anymore than you are.
Hope that helps.

Hey,
I have the WORST stomach problems and those were some of my symptons - did he go to a regular doctor or a gastro? If he didnt go to a gastro I have an excellent one - Anyway, it turns out that I have what is called IBS (irritable bowel syndrowne).
If you have any questions feel free to FM me.

Re: NWR: I hate worrying
When I was 19 I had a bacteria (h-pylori) that causes ulcers if left untreated. I took a month of bactrin and prilosec, and it cleared it up. For me just having that bacteria, it gave me a burning feeling like a hunger pain or something...it was terrible. Does FH feel like that? I think thats a symptom of ulcers. I'm still paranoid that the bacteria could come back and cause an ulcer! I need to go to the gastro doc!!

Hey you have FM!
Good news is both conditions are totally treatable and manageble! Bad news.. he can't eat whatever he wants (like another bride said.. no spicy, etc)

I'm sorry to hear about that. My FH has a terrible stomach as well. He's had ulcers and gastro-intestinal issues for years (he's only 24). He's been on anitbiotics and they work... I'm sure he'll be fine... just a small bump in the road. Ulcers are very common and he's doing the right thing by seeing a doctor and taking care of it now rather than later. Good luck!

Re: NWR: I hate worrying
Thank you everyone for your replies. At least now I have more of an idea of what these things are and it's more comforting that are they are both treatable and apparantly somewhat common. Some of the ulcer symptoms don't sound like the symptoms that he has. He eats healthy and hates spicey food which is a good thing but I definitely will be a little more strict when it comes to his diet. Our first step...I just went to lunch with him and we shared a salad with grilled chicken
