NWR: I have a question for my fellow teachers...

Hello, teachers. I am an English teacher. I actually just graduated in December and I have been teaching 7th and 10th grade. This summer, I will be teaching 6th grade. I am going to be working with phonics a bit. I have not taught this before. I was wondering if any of the elementary teachers have any suggestions for me. Are there any resources you would recommend? Thank you in advance.

I second the Wilson Program. There is also something called Explode the Code.

Agreed on both of the above suggestions. I would probably go Explode the Code, which are spectfic phonics based workbooks that the kids can work on and there are severals so you can differentiate if needed.

Wilson is awesome, but you need specific training to implement this program. to be fully certified it's a 2 year program. your district may send you on a day overview, but that is NOT the training.
