Hey. I'm a RN. I think you should definitely see a doctor. There are 2 new medications out for people with regular migraines. Do you experience any weakness or blurred vision?

no but when they are bad, i have to sit in a dark room and have FH tap his fingers on my head...otherwise they are just annoying and i cant be around ppl or loud noises.

you need to call you doctor babe. There is a new migrane med called frova that is really good. avoid motrin because it can cause rebound headaches. try some strong coffee, or something with caffeine for now. Call your doctor in the morning.

I'm 3 months from getting my MD (yay!!!!) and I concur. Any new headache or change in headache frequency is a cause for concern. Although it is most likely just a combination of stress and the weather.

Oh and that new migraine med is BS, it just a triptan that has been on the market forever and NSAID (which is just naproxyn/advil). You can take the two separtely for cheap, but Pharma needed to make money!

yes sweety :) I work there! I won't be in the ER tomorrow, but if you are going to go, let me know, and I will call them tomorrow to let them know to take care of you!

I wouldn't say that it's BS.............many people with migraines benefit from Triptans.
Also, Frova is a triptan, but doens't have naproxen in it.

Well if you know someone in the ER then I would go!

Call a local doctor, most if not all will take $50-70 for an office visit if you pay upfront. If you don't have that much call the medical school tomorrow and ask to go to thecontiuity clinic for medicine or neurology. You'll see a resident first, but the attending comes in afterwards, but the visit and most all the tests are free.

I get really bad migraines about twice a month...well anytime it rains (or snows, lol). Last week when it snowed I couldn't take it. I was weak and dizzy and felt like I was going to vomit. Tylenol, advil, aspirin...none of them work for me. So, I went to CVS after work and got excedrin. I know it's just an over the counter drug, but it works wonders. I've used it twice already and it did the trick both times. I got the excedrin with the caffeine in it. Try it and see if it helps at all.

No I wasn't saying triptans are bad, they are wonderful. I live off Imitrex in allergy season!!! I'm talking about Treximet which all the drug reps keep pushing everyone to prescribe--it is immitrex and an NSAID but cost twice as much. And if you don't have insurance, or bad insurance like me, I just take the Immitrex and NSAID seperately.

excedrin migraine works really well actually, and it's because of the caffeine. Sometimes if you drink really strong coffee, like an espresso, helps.
Also, lying on your bed face up, and letting your head hang off the bed helps. Sometimes I put an ice pack behind my neck while I do this, and the room should be dark. Do it for about 12 minutes, and make sure someone helps you up gradually from the position.
It's an old trick, but it works!
