NWR: I need my ladies to say some prayers!!! UPDATE #2!!!

Okay so as you can tell from my little saying under my picture and my incessant bragging - I am supposed to leave for Italy on Oct 20th. . .

We recently found out that my uncle ( who i am very close to. . . i have almost no family in america besides my aunt, uncle and three cousins) was diagnosed with lung cancer - they said that it is NOT spreading. . . BUT they want to remove part of his lung - they have scheduled the surgery for Wednesday before we leave. . . I feel so bad that we are leaving him but I feel like there is nothing we can do by staying home either, he has his kids and wife to take care of him - of course if ( GOD FORBID) there are any complications we will stay home. . .

Anyway, as much as I have been looking forward to this trip for over a year - I really don't care about it any more . . . this is the first time since I have been born that anyone in my family has had cancer. . . and I am freaking out!!

I really believe that prayer works - that is why i am posting this ( my family would FREAK if they knew i was doing this - we cant even TALK about it in my house)

I just wanted to ask everyone to please take one minute and send a prayer to my Uncle Franco! It would mean a lot to me and we need all the prayers we can get!

Thanks ladies!

Ok I have some CAUTIOUSLY good news! My uncle had his surgery today - and it went really well!!!!

they confirmed that it didnt spread! they took out the infected tissue and now they are running some tests BUT the surgery went really well - apparently he is high as a kite right now. . . i am going tomorrow to visit him since he probably wont even remember if i go today!
I am so happy and excited - i know all the tests arent done or anything so please keep saying those prayers but i want to thank everyone in LIW world AND in the real world (my home girls LOL) for their prayers and support!

Update #2
Okay I went to visit him yesterday and he looks awesome! he looks like the same old zio franco! seriously. . . he is on morphine - it was so funny his first words were 'wow this doesnt hurt a bit' thanks to the good ol morphine! but they think they got it all so we are all really happy! he is too funny he made so many friends in teh hospital and he told everyone he is going to cut their hair/ give them a shave when he feels better . . . everyone kept stopping by his room to chat

we had to turn off the mets game though - he kept screaming at the TV!!!! he also made me promise that i would go back to italy with him in june since he couldnt come this time!

so thanks AGAIN for your prayers and support! i am off to italy in a few hours!!!

Re: NWR: I need my ladies to say some prayers!!!

Just said a prayer for Uncle Franco, and I will continue to

It's a great sign that the cancer hasn't spread, and since they are removing what's been affected, I'm sure he's going to do really well!

I hope he has a speedy recovery from the surgery and I wish him the best!

He's gonna be okay! Have a great time in Italy

I know how you feel. My mom has stage 4 lung cancer. Its inoperable and she's undergoing chemo and radiation treatments now (She's only 47 years old). Its scary but its amazing what they can do these days with medicine. Keep your chin up and keep a positive attitude.

My MOH's mom just went through lung cancer surgery where they had to remove the lower lobe of her lung (She's 69). She's doing much better now but its a LONG recovery process. She's Italian as well. She's actually usually on the '07 chat board. Her name is SoontobeMrsBarton.

If you need any help with anything or just need to talk, we're more than willing to help, give advice, listen, etc.

Good luck and think positively!!!!

i wish you could all know my uncle he is too funny - when he found out we may postpone the trip he threatened to leave his hospital bed next week and come slap us all upside the head that's him! he is over 60 and still plays soccer so i am optimistic that he will have a speedy recovery!

Your Uncle is in my prays. He is lucky that it has not spread and I know he will be fine. My Mother had Galbladder cancer last year. Lucky for us it did not spread. She had it removed and went through 6 months of chemo. She did not lose any hair. Now she is cancer free (thank GOD ) and soon you Uncle will be too.
God Bless.
