So as we know (I think most know anyway) I just got a new job and am looking at cars. Nothing super definite, just want some ideas for future reference. I want to know about your cars! Do you lease, own, what car, why, how's the gas, why'd you get it... etc. Point me in the right direction. FH wants me to get the new Scion... I'm clueless!

I def. have to agree. I currently have an 06 civic coupe with all the extras. navi is the best thing ever invented!! b4 that i had a 98 accord coupe and loved that too. they are great on gas and very dependable. right now i get about 350 miles to a tank of gas. and it takes about 26 bucks to fill it up.

i have the G35 awd...it's not as cute as the coupe, but I've driven it in the snow and its rock solid...i got the sedan bc I work in the city and have no excuse to call out of work! It is a bit of a gas guzzler...not horrible tho. It's about the same as my FH's Acura TL, which he loves!

I currently lease a 03' Honda Accord, but it's goin back this week...My new ride by the end of this week, is the new 07' Jetta-Wolfsberg Edt. I can't wait!!! I loved my honda, that car has some baaalls... Navigation, everything.. but it's time to go down in monthly payments, w/ this wedding, and saving for a house.
If your looking for a great monthly lease price, and a card w/ all the bells & whistles def a VW Jetta! We really shopped around.

I got a Honda Civic too and love it. I got the 2006 model that they completely changed though. Great on gas. When the lease is up we'll probably go for an SUV though... thinking about kids in a few.
I also lease an 06 Honda Civic. It's great on gas and pretty spacious for a civic. My nephew rides in it in his booster seat and 2 other people can also fit comfortably in the back.

I have a 2007 Nissan Morano SUV that I got in August. I got an SUV bc I work in Westchester and thought I would need it to get through the snow this winter so much for that. We also are thinking about babies in the next 2 or 3 years so we needed something more suited for a family. At first I felt it was a little too big but I'm used to it now. Currently it costs about $40 to fill it up which isn't too bad for an SUV. It's a really nice ride. It has a lot of bells and whistles that I haven't figured out yet BUT I do love my sirius satellite radio!
Oh I almost forgot, my hair stylist has the Scion and he loves it!
We used to have a Murano and I totally miss that truck. It was awesome. We are definitely Nissan people. I currently own a Maxima and an Infiniti G35. The Maxima is awesome on gas and it rides really nice. I have 135,000 miles on it and no major problems with it. It's good in the snow also. Definitely would recommend it.
The Infiniti is a hot little machine but it guzzles gas (not as bad as an SUV but worse than my Max). The Infiniti is REALLY fun to drive, now that I learned how to drive stick LOL but I have heard it is rated the worst car in the snow. It's a rear-wheel car. I have yet to learn about that and I am not looking forward to it!
I have always bought my cars b/c i put a lot of mileage on them so leasing isn't practical plus then I have another asset. A depreciating one but an asset nonetheless. I definitely recommend Nissans and if you are looking to lease or buy, I know they offer really good programs on the Altima. They just redesigned it and it's really nice. Good luck!
i had a g35 and if you have another car never drive the g35 in the snow, it is a nightmare... i got stuck on a quarter inch of snow, i hated it in the winter but besides the snow, the car is great
That is sooo true! FH had a Nissan Z which is just a sport model of the G35 and you could NOT take that thing out in the snow even if it was just a dusting on the ground. It was a hot car but not very practical!

Re: NWR: I want to know about your ride!
I bought a brand new 2006 Pontiac G6 6 months ago. I absolutely LOVE my car. It does well on gas (about 21 mpg - which is what the sticker says) I have the 4 panel sunroof as well which is SO AWESOME in the summertime!!!! I feel that it rides very smoothly, the stereo is very nice (6 disc changer Monsoon Stereo). I currently lease the car and I pay about $275 a month for it for a 39 month lease. I got it because I fell in love it with the concept car of it at the car show a few years back. Other than that, I'm not sure what else!! If you want more info FM me!!

Re: NWR: I want to know about your ride!
I have a 2006 Toyota Matrix w/ 4 wheel drive and LOVE it. (Downgraded from a Jeep Liberty Limited...which sucked up gas, and cost a fortune for routine maintenance & was the worst built car I ever owned...had problems with it even though i bought it new) The toyota gets about 30mpg...with 4 wheel drive...not every trim of the Matrix comes w/ the 4 wheel dr...but it handles great in rain...have yet to see about snow.
Has great cargo space..seats fold flat & the front passenger seat folds forward...FH has always owned Toyotas and loves them...i love my new little zippy car, even though i gave up an SUV! would never buy another Jeep...and the car was cheap!

Re: NWR: I want to know about your ride!
I just leased a 2007 Honda Pilot (with the intent to buy it out). I've always driven a SUV and fell in love with the MDX....WAAAY out of our price budget but then looked at the Honda which is the same exact car (about 90% exact..same body, engine, etc..) without the mark up for the name. It has all the bells and whistles I wanted, leather, navigation, satellite radio, sunroof, etc. Right now the deal to lease works out to be cheaper than buying the car IF (and only if) you don't have to finance the buyout....which FH and I will not need to as we are looking to put the wedding money towards whatever savings we have accrued by the buyout time.

Re: NWR: I want to know about your ride!
I decided to finance my first brand new car while I was in graduate school so I went with an 05 Hyundai Elantra. It gets me from point A to point B and gets good gas mileage, but I had little things go on it like the power mirrors and the passenger air bag got recalled. I also got rear ended on the parkway a few months after getting it and the car crumpled. The air bags didn't even open, but I'm unsure if they are supposed to in rear end collisions. I would not get this car again, but I couldn't find a better price or warranty.

I have a 2005 Huyndai Tuscon. I bought it because I wanted a small SUV. Very good on gas and a great ride.
I used to have a 1988 VW golf, her name was Chewy and she was the best car I have ever owned. 48 miles to the gallon and just wonderful. Had she not left 4 and 5th gear on the NY thruway I would still drive her today.
Miss you Chewy
Another VW fan here. I had a VW Fox when I was in college and I beat that car into the ground but it always started and never left me stranded anywhere!!! Her name was Sally Brown!!! My Dad says it was the best car anyone in the familiy ever had. I recently upgraded to a VW Jetta Turbo and I love it!!!!!!!!!!!! Have not figured out what name suits her but I am sure GabrielleandJohn will come up with a good one.

Re: NWR: I want to know about your ride!
I'm currently leasing a red & white mini cooper. I looooooooooove this car! I lease instead of buying b/c the payments are lower & I know I don't want it forever. The gas mileage is awesome & there is plenty of room for me and my dog to cruise around. I have actually fit four grown adults in the car & it is a lifesave when it comes to parking. I can fit this car anywhere- great in NYC! Any questions let me know- I am such a fan. PS I got a great deal by going to the dealership in the Hamptons, the one in Huntington was a total rip off!!!!
I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra... I bought it in 2000 and my battery just died on me TODAY...
The car is OK... i think it would have been a GREAT car if I maintained it.. i NEVER change my oil and do all that kinda stuff... so my cars in pretty crappy condition.
We're looking to buy a mini cooper waaaaaaay after the wedding
wow your my twin!!! same car same year and dont take care of it LOL i changed the oil like once since ive had it and ive had it for like 3 years?? my check engine like went out today and im freaken out!! my FH is yelling at me ' see tara if you would take care of your car we wouldnt have this problem' i felt like i a kid lol and a new car is WAY out of limits right now not four months away from our wedding!
