NWR--- ice cream trucks

growing up .. mr softee the 'song' was part of my summer excitement...

just now on News channel 4 says that the DOEP (dept of envir. protect.) wants to silent the sounds.....

HOW DO YOU DO THAT!!!!

yeah maybe NOT as loud when customers are there in the truck.. but to silent them totally....

thats part of my SUMMER!!!

It's 'un-American' to silence Mr. Softee!!!

also they discussed jack hammers and dogs barking for longer than 10 or 5 min at a time....

excuse me but... how do those things compare to Mr. softee???

is this just massive complaining by 'the elderly' again?

(i love old ppl but the cranky ones get to me)

What is wrong with the world? they are worried about noise, yet we've got people KILLING one another on a daily basis...

Oh, didn't anyone hear on news12 last week about the neighbors who called the cops because the kids were being too loud in the pool.. They actually went to court and the case was dismissed... that is awful!! They are kids! In a pool! what the hell are they supposed to do?

I love hearing the sound of the ice cream man.
It makes me feel young again.
This world is crazy!

what they said was that they can only play the music while the truck is in motion and when they stop to sell, they have to turn it off

it is too loud for young children

well in response to yoru pool story .. i few weeks ago ant n tilde posted about her neighbor's children screem bloody murder and scream HLEP ME no less.... <-- there i can see a legit reason to go to court... but bc of children playing.... ugh

my children was oce taken from me bc of cranky old ppl .. this is UNfair....

The Bloomberg administration will allow the ice cream trucks to continue playing the sprightly ditty while trolling for young customers. But under a compromise with the City Council, the jingle must be halted when the trucks are not moving.

The administration's plan to ban the jingle was the most intriguing element of an ambitious citywide noise crackdown, which was intended to curb a wide array of everyday nuisances like blaring music, barking dogs and noisy air-conditioners.

yeah I read that in the newspaper, its just silencing the truck when serving ice cream, but when they are driving they can have it on

I second that thought.. its not summer until you start to hear the sounds of Mr. Softee and the Good Humor man as well.
