NWR: If you can't say something nice...

Did anyone see the statement from PETA's Dan Mathews

He says: “It comes as no shock at all that Steve Irwin should die provoking a dangerous animal/ He made a career out of antagonizing frightened wild animals, which is a very dangerous message to send to kids.” and further: “If you compare him with a responsible conservationist like Jacques Cousteau, he looks like a cheap reality TV star.”

This Mathews guy is barely human. How crude, cruel and completely uncalled for to make such snide comments about a man who has been dead less than 2 weeks. Doesn't he care that the man had friends, family and fans who loved him? Doesn't it matter to him that his words might be hurtful to those folks? I am absolutely disgusted.

geez...how many times has this guy heard steve's [yes, we were on a first name basis. ] manager weep [a grown man] as he told the world of watching the video of him being killed...and that there was NO provoking! sorry, but to steal an NWR word, he's an azzhat!

Thats awful, steve irwin never provoked animals. he was a kind compassionate man who LOVED animals and respected the fact they were wild. He was a conservationist who worked to teach people that animals could be dangerous. He was the first to say if something happened to him it was his fault, not the animals.
How disgusting of a comment to make. PETA is always way to extreme. They take it to the point where people lost interest in their cause.

i have always hated PETA and their EXTREME views - it is disgusting

did you know they have entire campaigns against FISHING - i dont mean like commercial fishing that messes up ecosystems - i mean a guy taking his son out for a day on the boat and releasing most of the fish

sorry but I am very sensitive about PETA - since FH works in a bait shop. . . they are trying to destroy his livelihood!

that is DISGUSTING. how dare that guy say those things!

steve irwin wasn't about provoking wild animals--he was about teaching people not to FEAR animals...and to understand them. he was a conservationist who believed that his sole purpose on earth was to educate people on global warming & it's effects on natural habitats, as well as save endangered species.

that PETA spokesperson should be fired. that organization is too damn extreme.

also--he WASN'T antagonizing that sting ray--it was just a reaction the ray had.
