i feel like such a baby. i just found out my brother is moving at the end of the summer (maybe sooner). he was accepted into a phd program in rhode island... and of course i'm so happy for him. but i'm so sad too. he's my best friend, we grew up through some rough stuff and we've always had each other. we even live on the same street today...same house. i rent the upstairs of a 2 family, he rents the downstairs. and i guess i'm just sad thinking about all the things i'm going to miss. he'll be here for the wedding and stuff. of course. but all the late night basketball, pizza, jam sessions in the garage (we used to play in a band together)... soooo much is over soon and i'm so sad. ugh, i'm on emotion-overload lately... it seems EVERYTHING is going on this week...wedding, family..etc... i really need a break...
oh well, sorry, just needed to ...vent i guess. thanks girls.

Oh I am sorry But look at it this way, you both are beginning a new journey. I am sure he will visit on holidays and you can always visit him when your free.

Yeah I know close is all relative as rhode island is close but obviously not close like downstairs. . it is sad when things change but you will find a way to stay connected. . and grad school is not a permanent move. its long for sure but not permanent. I went away for 7 years for school. .well moved for school and stayed. and came back and now live near my sibs again. .

I'm really tight with my family too so I can totally imagine what you must be going through!!! It's sad that he's moving away but RI isn't too far, and you have an excuse to go visit him!

Distance sometimes brings people even closer! I'm sorry that you'll miss him, and I'm sure he feels the same. Just think of all the great chances this will give you for weekend road trips, or wonderful phone conversations!
Once you're over the initial sadness, you'll find some wonderful benefits in the new arrangement! Feel better!

i just wanted to say thank you to all of you. you all definitely helped to cheer me up. RI isn't that far away and i can visit him a lot. i txtd him last night and asked him if he's still going to be coming home for things like christmas eve (we always do a bunch of things together on the holidays) and he sorta laughed at me and txtd back 'lol what r u worried? i'm only 30 miles away sort of... yeah, we'll still have christmas together. lol'
so i guess him teasing me cheered me up too. i think i was just having a total pity party last night. thank you all so much!
